According to CoolTechZone (http://www.cooltechzone.com/Departments/Featured_Story/NVIDIA_G80_Delayed_200604092276/), NVIDIA's 80nm G80 GPU has missed the deadline for taping out the GPU. Meanwhile, some manufacturers say they have been told that the card may not arrive on time. Cooltechzone also says the G80 may actually be a modified version of the G70/71 architecture with support for DX10, rather than a full rebuild.

I didn't even hear of G80 or R600. Kinda sad, the 7800gtx and x1800's were just half-way marks for the next generation. X1900 and 7900 are like X850's. But if it's gonna be half assed like this, just a G70 with extra features, screw it

I heard DX10 was meant to work with gpu's that have unified shaders, but it looks like Nvidia may just emulate DX10 support with superclocked parts based on G70. I dont know where I read that, but this seems to confirm it. ATI on the other hand has R600 ready for release as soon as Vista/DX10/DX10 games are out :rockout:

yeah Wazzle, I bet that's what I heard too, the unified shader thing. I know there was something Vista/DX10 required that ONLY the Xbox 360's GPU was capable of right now, but I couldn't remember what it was. Must have been unified shaders
