View Full Version : HDMI capable X1900 XTX maybe soon
If ATI's partners decide on doing it, there may be a HDMI X1900 XTX card in the near future. HDMI, or High-Definition Multimedia Interface, allows your video card to not only output video, but to also take an audio input signal via cable, and encode it into the HDMI stream. The result of this is sound and video coming from on plug in your video card. Some ATI partners have already implemented this in X1300 and X1600 cards.

cant u just use hdmi if you wanted to connect audio to a 5.1 amplifier, how would u do that with hdmi, the idea is great if you want to use your t.v speakers (like scart) but how does this work for 5.1, will future hdmi tv's have an hdmi input then out the tv is a 5.1 connector, instead of connecting 5.1 from dvd player u connect it from t.v, i think this is how it will have to work, i am probably wrong thou

It's really all to do with DRM and the mastery of the MPAA. They don't want you ripping their Hi-Def content, so unless you use an HDMI you wont be able to watch it... Money grabbing bastards that they are. :shadedshu
