View Full Version : Sapphire X800 GTO AGP pipe unlock
ecosoft

I just installed a Sapphire X800 GTO AGP to replace a croaked Nvidia 6600GT AGP. I've read elsewhere that the R430 core has 16 pipes, while the X800 GTO only employs 12. So, how does one unlock the pipes? I received a prog TriXX from Sapphire that ostensibly checks for max mem and GPU core speeds, but there is nothing in TriXX that permits unlocking anything. I'd appreciate any useful info.
Show us your fuses using that: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=5367 (post them here). And if you can have more pipes we will help to unlock them.

OK, I've got an ATI Tool screen shot (bmp) using Capture Pro ... saved it as a BMP, but I see no facilities to "attach" or, "insert" the .bmp to this reply.:) Therefore, I'm stashing the .bmp at a web site that I maintain. http://www.the-tree-of-life.com/test/X800GTO%20ATI%20Tool.BMP
Thanks a bunch for your assistance:toast:
Aarrggh! something screwy with this facility ... I used the "Advanced insert image" menu item, but da' c'sucker did not appear here:eek:
So, here's the URL: http://www.the-tree-of-life.com/test/X800GTO%20ATI%20Tool.BMP
Can you give me any pointers about using these forum response facilities?
Thanks again :)

Hello, I got a Sapphire X800 GTO AGP (R430 core) and I think that I can mod it to 16 pipes. I got the same readings that ecosoft has in Atitool, same CONFIG_DIE_FUSSES and same CONFIG_SUBSTRACT_FUSSES. I mean they are enabled by hardware but do they work?
I downloaded a Sapphire X800XL AGP bios (same core and clocks compared to my GTO) to mod and also a X850XT. I raed somewhere that itīs better to flash it with the X850XT because that bios uses the R480 core that its more overclockable. Of course I edited that Bios with Rabit cause theres no way that my R430 could keep up with the X850XT clocks.
My 430 doesenīt overclock more than 430 mhz Core and 1050 mem, that kinda sucks, and it isnīt a temperature problem. If I succesfully unlock the 4 hidden pipes my card will produce more heat?
Well Iīm ready to flash but first I would like to hear opinions and answers.
Itīs OK to flash with a booteable CD? I already saved my default bios with atitool.
I got flashrom16p and flashron240, whith one is better?

Your card could be modded to 16 pipes and I have already prepared automated bootable flash CD suitable for you. If you want it I can send the image to you. To avoid mistakes please attach your original BIOS to check it. Also I need your e-mail to send the utility.

The same answer to you. Read the above post and if it is interesting for you let me know.
Meanwhile don't flash X850XT BIOS. XL could be alternative but be carefull with the clocks.

Iīm interested, I mean this X800GTO itīs sweeeet. My last card after this one was a 9800XT (MSI sell it as a PRO but has the XT R360core) and I really felt the power increase, not as big as changing from a 9600XT 256mb to a 9800XT 128mb, thats a BIIIIIG difference, I guess mainly cause of the pipes (4 against 8) and the memory bus to.
So I know how pipelines can make a difference.
So should I send you my BIOS, unlock the pipes and then flash?
Or itīs OK to flash it now with the Sapphire X800XL AGP BIOS?
Another question what is VIVO?
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help :)

OK guys, just how do ya' copy the BIOS out of the vid card? I've searched (googled) for utilities to "copy", "read", "save" the existing BIOS and all I've found are the utilities to flash the the new BIOS to the eeprom. :ohwell:
Never mind :o :) I finally "found" the BIOS dump in ATI Tool
I have sent the utility to your mail. Let us know how the things are going on ;) .

I may got a locked core or something cause it just don’t allow me to write the new BIOS. When I type flashrom –i (information) it say that itīs locked.
I tried firstly with flashrom16p and Sapphire X800XL AGP BIOS using a bootup cd made with Nero (using DosBootimage.ima) and it just throws me “ERROR 0F0LI”.
Then I used flashrom240 and Atiflash309 with the same results. I even give Winflash a try but it just completely hangs my system starting it. :banghead:
Then I thought maybe itīs Neroīs boot cd the guilty one so I boot up with a Win98SE cd and after booting use the cd with the flasher and the BIOS: same result…
Iīm using the command line: flashrom –f –p 0 1.bin, Is there something wrong with it?
As a last try I though that the flash source should allow Read and Write and so I copied flashrom and Bios to a hard drive. Boot up with win98se cd and it just donīt recognice my IDE hard drive (even unplugging the SATA with contains my OS) configured as Primary IDE .
This is very annoying and Iīm disappointed cause I was sure that I got a modeable card
 Whatīs Wrong????????? Can anyone help me?
I cantīt send you my default BIOS by web cause a error shows up uploading it (same problem attaching pictures to my post), so send me you’re e-mail (or mine is dienan16@yahoo.com) and I will send it to you. Maybe you Tech Power Up guys can mod it for me and send me a Image.
Looking forward for a reply, Bossweed

Thanks Dolf 4 your help (that little "-newbios" was keeping me away of unleashing the power) By the way, what does it mean?
Windows detect my card as a "Radeon X800 Series", I donīt like that, Is there any way to make it say X800 XL?
Itīs a nice boost but I was expecting more...

Edit: it has R430 core
Now it is well known problem and it is caused of the flash utility combined with Realto bridge. Instead flashrom you have to use atiflash (latest is better) with the following command line:
atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 biosname.bin (it will work ;) ).

and i flashed back to the old bios. dolf do u know how to get it working
Edit: here is my stock bios http://files.upl.silentwhisper.net/upload4/Sapphire_X800_gto_agp.rar
I suggest you to try that BIOS (modded to 16 pipes). If you still get black screen after the flash it means bad pipe quad  .

After this I turn it down and close Atitools and check the temp and its 39C. As soon as I do that my whole computer FREEZES! Something I am missing? Thanks for the help in advance!

I am going to play around with the stock fan for a while. I am going to order some Arctic Silver 5 and first try replacing the grease that is on the stock fan for now. i noticed that the thin ram heatsink on the back of the card got really hot ~50-60c
i think that if u replace the stock heatsink and put on the blue zalman ram heatsinks you could probably clock a little higher:roll:

hmm, that's a typical overclock for the r430 core, though i don't know why your computer would crash after stressing it. That's more usual for an unstable overclock on the cpu/memory. Could be a bug with atitool though, what version are you using? Personally i prefer 0.25 beta 10 for the x8x0 series cards. Try installing that version, and see if you still have the same problem.

I would try opening it with UltraISO and recreating it if there are no errors when you open it. Also one of the mose reliable programs I use to burn Images is RecordNow. It can actualy repair damaged images before burning them.

Just out if curiosity, try the free demo of PowerISO. Google the name PowerISO and go to thier home page to get the demo. That one worked for me once when I had a stubborn ISO.

It should be empty when you mount or burn (the info is situated in hidden partition). You have to boot from the already burned CD (first boot device should be the CD-ROM). It doesn't work under Windows but in DOS mode.

If your card have R430 chip (and Realto bridge) the BIOS should be suitable for you. Post your original BIOS just in case (to compare with that in my Flash Utility). If everything is OK I will send you Bootable Flash Utility image. You have to follow the instructions (also attached) in order to prepare the utility for action. After you can flash to 16 pipes or to revert to 12 or to flash overclocked BIOS with just pressing "enter" (automatically) ;) . Unfortunately I can send the utility tomorrow.

Hey comon man, don't leave us haning here, let's see some numbers! Run Aquamark or PC/3D Mark and let us know. Try to avoind PC/3D Marks over 04' because the 05s are HORRIBLY inaccurate. FutureMark is aware of many glitches and when I spoke with them, after buying the full blown package, they told me some of my glitches were on a LONG list of stuff to be fixed "at some point". :nutkick:

And in case I have the R480 chip, would be impossible to do it? If the R480 is the core of the 850xt, its 4 extra pipes may be unlocked too, isn't true?
The thing is I'm doubting between adquiring a X800 GTO AGP with the R430 or the R480 one. Wich would you choose in order to mod it to X800 XT/ X850 XT?

I wouldve put this up sooner but I've been struggling against linux on my laptop... anyway
here's my results after running the flash utility
on 3dmark03 free test
before: 9166 after: 10066
3dmark05 with 4x AA enabled
before: 4353 after: 4869
the are not tremendous, but they are definitely there, and i'm a happy camper. games feel a lot smoother now.
also, these were run with my card oc'ed at 463/560. the weird part is, after flashing, i'm experiencing slightly lower temps (40 as opposed to around 43 celcius). so i got free performance for no added heat or anything, and im guessing i can overclock even higher than before. if i run some more benchmarks with higher clocks, i'll post em. all in all, not a bad deal.
Thanks Dolf!

Okay, guys, I have the same card with the same fuses data as the OP and I flashed my BIOS using ATiWinflash. It didn't work properly and I got artifacts and such and had to remove the softmod. Is there a chance my card just won't work with it or is it something I did wrong?

First off, you guys rock!!!! I've ben trying to get this card unlocked for a while now and this is the first site that helped out. The flash was flawless and worked perfectly.
Secondly, anyone that has an X800 GTO: YOU NEED TO DO THIS MOD!!!! With the utility, it is super easy - evan a monkey could figure it out.
Ok, the results:
Using Zalman VF-700, max core was at 470 and max memory was 577.
Benchmarks were as follows:
3DMark06 - 1266 (Stock)/1726 (O.C. w/16 pipes)
3DMark01 - 16911 (Stock)/17781 (O.C. w/16 pipes)
Not bad for an aging Socket A system!!!!

The mod is not difficult at all. All you need is a program that can burn ISO images to a CD. I used Nero and it worked perfectly.
1)Leave the CD with the burned image in your CD/DVD drive and reboot your computer.
2)Enter the BIOS settings for the motherboard (Delete or ESC key) during the first power-on screen.
3)Go to "Advanced BIOS setting" and you should see a listing of boot devices: 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Make sure that "CD-ROM" or "SCSI" (I had to use SCSI) is set as 1st boot device. Exit and save to CMOS.
4)You will be prompted to make a choice at a screen once the computer boots from the CD. Choose option 1 "Flash to 16 Pipes"
5)Reboot and take CD out of drive
6)Verify with ATI Tool that you have 16 active pipes.
ENJOY!!!

Hey Guys!
I have been reading through these forums and checking out the utility Dolf has been setting up for people. I am looking at buying one of these X800 GTO cards from newegg.com within the next few weeks. There are 2 versions they are selling a retail and an OEM, same card but slighty different model #. I believe the retail one has an L at the end of the model number. If you get past the first page of the reviews (where a couple of people that dont know what they are talking about say the cards can't be unlocked) both cards people say they were able to flash the BIOS to unlock the 16 pipelines.
By Default I would like to buy the retail version which is same price or cheaper, but want to make sure I am buying one that I can unlock. Any help / pointers? I will post the links below.
Retail: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102609
OEM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102608

I'll take a look.
you can overclock the Rcore 480 more than the 430.
I bought the "L" version. Which has the 430 core.
Technically you can ask the person at newegg in their live help window.
From what I've seen the "100131" version has more cables in the description.

2 Quick Answers:
1: Ati Tool - can be used to "dump" factory BIOS onto your HD before any modding is done and it will get you the best over clock.
2: If nobody else sends it out before I get home tonight, I will send it to all that have not recieved it

inside the zip file isn't a rar file, if ya check it out its got an .iso extension
gotta right click it and open with. . . (whatever burner program u use) for me i use nero, so after u right click it and use the, (open with) command, it should go right into the burner program and just select burn speed and hit burn. (if this dont work, and it deff should)
load up your burner software, hit file-->load, and select that .iso image (wherever you extracted the zip) and burn ;)
if ya cant get it to work still, i dunno, thats as easy as i can explain how to burn an .iso file.

Oh score! Thanks, that makes it soo much easier. Just flashed my BIOS successfully, Yaay for 16 pipes! Seeing as how it's 12:20 AM I think I'll wait till tomarrow (err. . . later today) to do the excessive benchmarking, overclocking then s'more benchmarking. I'll let you know how it goes! (^^)/

Latest info....updated to the latest catalyst and boosted my 3D Mark05 numbers to 5054. About a 4 % improvement for a software change.
Also have this overclocked to 452 core, 574 memory on stock cooling.

Jeez, that seems rather high. Is it stable at that clock? I've got mine at 420/558.

So far it has been stable at that clock speed. I have played BF2 at its max settings, 1280 x 1024 for hours and not one issue. No AA though.
For just normal computer use, I run the card at 420/526 but for games I have TRIXX bump it up. The TRIXX software that came with the card is what indicated that my card could run that high.

Huh, well anyway I finally finished all of my benching. I used two benching tests, the HL2 bench set to DuPont Canals - 09, and 3D Mark05. I found the HL2 bench to be more reliable than 3D Mark05, because if I restarted my computer and ran the same test again in 3D Mark05, I'd get a fairly different score (like 100 or so either way). I ran each test at 1024x768, and three different settings; once at the default/low setting, once at 4AA 4AF, and once at it's highest. I did each four times and averaged the scores.
3DMark05 12(No OC) 12(425.25/562.50) 16(No OC) 16(420/558)
1024x768 Default: 4381.25 4778.75 4601.75 5399
1024x768 4AA 4AF: 3724 4041 4086.5 4645
1024x768 6AA 16AF: 3270 3550 3589.25 4001.5
HL2 12(No OC) 12(425.25/562.50) 16(No OC) 16(420/558)
Bilinear No AA: 117.1 119.75 117.1 126.25
4AA 4AF: 90.63 96.88 101.46 112.38
8AA 16AF: 83.98 89.68 93.25 104.28
Also I was curious as to how much better it did overclocked/flashed so I did some comparisons.
3DMark05 (%) 12 No OC/16 No OC 12 OC/16 OC 12 No OC/16 OC 12 OC/16 No OC
1024x768 Default: 5.03% 12.98% 23.23% -3.7%
1024x768 4AA 4AF: 9.73% 14.95% 24.73% 1.13%
1024x768 6AA 16AF: 9.76% 12.72% 22.37% 1.11%
HL2 (%) 12 No OC/16 No OC 12 OC/16 OC 12 No OC/16 OC 12 OC/16 No OC
Bilinear No AA: 0% 5.43% 7.81% -2.21%
4AA 4AF: 11.95% 16% 24% 4.73%
8AA 16AF: 11.04% 16.28% 24.17% 3.98%
Sorry about the results looking like crap, I had em all spaced out nicely in the posty screeny thingy but apparently it's got a grudge against spaces and removed em all.
Apparently at the lowest settings in the HL2 test, flashing the bios didn't make much difference, I guess that there is just not enough data going through the card to make use of the extra Pipes. All the rest of the settings gave me a fairly big increase though. At stock speed, the flashed BIOS gave me around a 10% increase in framerate, comparing the two Overclocks however, the added four pipelines gave me about a 15% increase. But if you compare the standard BIOS not OC'd to the Flashed BIOS fully OC'd it gave me around a 24% increase in fps' (^^)b So I'd say doing all this was quite worth it. Nothing like increasing the effectiveness of something by 25%

Hey guys.
I am new to this overclocking bit so I need some advice, Since I've got my new Sapphire X800GTO unlocked to 16 pipes, thanks to everyone here, I wanted to try my hand at some over clocking. I tried using AtiTool to find my max core and then my whole system crashed. I'm a noob so are you supposed to stop it before you crash lol?:o
Also I have both ATITool and ATI Tray Tools installed. Will using one have any effect on the other? Is one better for overclocking? I use Ati Tray Tools to control my fan speed and just tried some over clocking with ATI Tool did that cause the crash?
Any help is appreciated thanks.

Most efficient? You just use em, you can't really use them in a non efficient way. I'd suggest overclocking it though. It gives you a pretty good increase in performance.

Many thanks for this guys. I just got my Saphire x800gto today from newegg and it too had the same fuses and the 430 chipset. A quick flash and whammo, 16 pipes unlocked :D
Quick question though, is the overclocked setting on the bios flash .iso within tolerable limits for all these cards? Or is it a try and see sort of deal? Just being cautious here and don't want to fry my card considering everything else is a success.

perhaps I am so new that I am not using the proper etiquette here. I do not wish to annoy people, please forgive.
I have the correct findings whenI run the ATiTool. I have an R430 chip. can I flash this Sapphire X800 GTO 256 AGP? And to what can I flash it?
I thank you all for your time and efforts.
Yep you can flash it. On page 16 there is a download link.burn it to a disk and it should make a start up disk.when you restart your PC it will ask you what you want to do.
Is there any difference between each model and core? ie., if i had a sapphire x800gto agp 256mb, r340 core, and someone else had this and posted it can I use the bios provided for them safely?

Hello everyone,
Thank you Tool483.
I managed to flash my card an now all pipelines are working. Strange thing is.. now I no longer am able to run 3dMarok03 . It stops before the first scene is complete. The videoo card doesnt get over 44 degrees C. Before flashing I could complete the 3DMark 03 and get a score of 8230 using the latest Omega Drivers. I reverted using the CD I made, and still cannot complete the 3dMark03 bench test. I cannot even run my games for more than 90 seconds. One other variable I can think of is that I installed Roxio since then. Should I use the drivers suppplied by Sapphire/Radeon? I did switch back to Sapphire/Radeon stock drivers but still no joy. I hope that I did not trash my card. I did do a BIOS dump. and now have a something.bin file. Do i copy this to a CD and reboot to FLASH the card back to stock?
I thank all of you for your time and efforts.

Hi guys,
excellent work! This is my first post on the forum. I have bought the X800GTO AGP card a few days ago, and I read all the pages in the forum.
I want to unlock the 16 pipelines (my card is able to do it) but I am still a little bit afraid. The card is totally new, and I do not know whether this unlocking can negatively affect it in the long term (for example, because it will operate in highest temperatures).
What's your opinion on this?
Thanks!

Let me ask you one more thing. Which is the maximum temperature that the card can work without problems?
If I refer to ATI the max. temperature should be 105C. My opinion is that everything more than 80-85C is too much. For exactly that card it is better to ask our colleagues in that thread which has exactly the same card as your. For me 60-65 up to 70C are normal for full load.

excellent.
i downloaded the iso/pdf.
now before i reflash, should i uninstall ati drivers/catalyst and then reinstall after the bios flash or is it ok to just leave everything as-is and just perform the reflash.
fyi im using the most up-to-date catalyst and drivers.
You don't *need* to reinstall drivers for it to see the 16 pipes, but a driver reinstall afterwards wouldn't do any harm.
That way, the drivers would recognise a 16 pipe card during installation and may therefore then be fully able to utilise those pipes.

successful bios flash to 16 pipelines. :)
i didnt reinstall drivers yet. a simple defrag, disc cleanup, and a clean reboot increased my 3dmark 05 from 4369 to 4930 at stock speeds. ill be able to easily clear 5000 with some overclocking. thanks a ton guys!
i am curious though in the iso file, why list another option for an overclocked bios to flash, when you can just as easily use a utility to overclock. what am i missing there? are the speeds listed that of another factory ati card?

If I understand you correctly you want overclocked BIOS (425/550MHZ). If your card is X800GTO AGP with R430 and Realto you can use my flash utility which contains OverCloced BIOS but to only 420/525MHz. If you want more or you have different card post your BIOS and I will change the speeds to 425/550MHz.

Try with adjustment of the VGA memory size to 64MB within the motherboard's BIOS.
Do you mean the VGA Aperture size?
Or, the size of the main memory that is shared with the VGA? In this case, it means that my card will use its own 256MB + 64MB from the main systems' memory?

VGA aperture size is the amount ot the memory that will be used only when the video cards memory is full, and set shared memory to its lowest value.
I have tried more and less MB for the aperture size (I have X800XT and X850XT) and the optimal size for me (ASUS P4C800E-Delux, P4 3.0GH FSB800, 1G Kingston HyperX kit 2x512) is 64MB. But that is equal for my PC ......

was that just for people that might prefer a locked speed?

The OC-ed BIOS is included for these who want to have better performance (by default) without additional utilities and overclocking needed. Originally the OC BIOS was with 440/540MHz but in most cases it is too much for R430 and 2.0ns memory and in the current version it is just 420/525MHz. If that option (Flash OC BIOS) is too strange just ignore it ;) .

no its fine. it did confuse me for a second though when i did the flash ;)
i used the trixx software that came with my card and the "performance" overclock(max oc with stock fan speed) netted me 421/537 and a 3dmark05 of 5180 so im more than satisfied
thanks again.

I used Dolf's flash utility, and now my screen is just black. I can't see anything.
I tried to "revert to stock" by pressing the down arrow twice and hitting enter... but it didn't fix anything.
What can I do? I'd like to flash with the bin that dolf posted on like the 2nd page (bios16.zip) but I've got no way to do that since I can't see anything!
Please help!
Thanks in advance

My card is exactly the same as the one in the PDF instructions for Dolf's tool.
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpost.php?p=96394&postcount=152. My ATItool "settings" were the same also.
The only thing that may possibly be different is the Realto bridge part, since I have no idea what that is, and which bridge my card uses.
I tried to use the option in Dolf's tool that would increase the pipelines to 16, and also do the basic OCing. And that's where this whole saga begins.

The computer I flashed has no floppy drive, (which was why Dolf's bootable CD was so appealing). If that's absolutely the only way to fix it though, I suppose I can go out and buy one. Ideally I'd like to fix it with some sort of bootable CD, or better yet, Dolf's bootable CD in the first place, lol
I did back up the original BIOS, it's saved on my desktop, which I can't see. If I really need that, I'll pull the HDD and put it into another comp to recover that file.

Find a way to post your original BIOS here or send it to my mail. I want to compare it with that you have flashed with.

Hi, I've attached the bios dump from ATItool.
You also requested the PN in your PM, which I checked, and it is: PN 109-A49001-00. If it helps, I'm in Canada, so I'm not sure if the part numbers will be different.
Thanks again!

I have checked the BIOSes and they are different. I will prepare the same automated utility with your BIOS modded to 16 pipes (first option) and your original BIOS (second) option. You have to try flashing blindly.

Ugh, that's so strange. Everything was the exact same as in that PDF. It was definitely my stupidity though. This thread started out with people posting their bioses and you verifying that they were good to go with the upgrade. I should have done that first. After reading through 15 pages of people having no problems, I guess I got flash happy :o
Thanks so much for your help dolf. If you need to reach me: brandon(at)thebws.com
Thanks again for your time and effort.

Still wonder?? anyone know if you can unlock the extra pipes on the R480?? :banghead:
DWAX,
I see that you flashed your bios and got the 16 pipes...was this with the R480 core? (I read that the R480 was not unlockable:confused: ) And if so, what kind of performance increase did you see? (I also have the R480, but haven't flashed the BIOS yet (I use ATITool to OC the core to 525Mhz and the memory to 580 Mhz DDR)
Waldoinsc
No I have the R430. But I kept seeing the R480 in ATITool, I'm not sure if it was me or the program causing it. But I unlocked it! I don't over clock much LOL I want to play with the card for awhile. I toyed with it today.... first my CPU 1.8 duraon to 2.1Ghz then the X800 to 520 and511. It did not last long LOL I had a reboot and lost all my info. :D What gave me a scare... It said NO VGA CARD ERROR!

Greetings, all. I recently purchased the SAPPHIRE 100131L Radeon X800GTO 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail from newegg after reading about how extra pipes could be unlocked. I visited here and grabbed the cd-rom flash tool listed to do what I thought would be an easy flash. Aftering rebooting with the newly burned cd, I chose the unlock option and it came up with something along the lines 0flo0 Error. I finally got a floppy with the flashrom n bios made n had to force the flash with the -f option.
After doing this the flash worked or at least it didn't come up with an error. I rebooted and got a lovely shrill beeping sound after that though. I assume somehow or another I screwed up the flash, but I didn't have the extra cash on hand to buy a pci card around here. The cheapest was 67 so I said heck with it, tookt he card out, took the cooler unit off it that I installed, packaged it all back up and RMA'ed it.
Now, I know there's prolly details I'm leaving out, but does anyone have any idea what I may have done wrong? the core is r430, but read a few posts were it was supposedly still unlockable pipe wise. I used the ATItool and the letters are both F where they should be if it was unlockable. I don't know if I used the wrong bios or what, but I'd greatly appreciate any help anyone could give in their spare time. It'll be a few days before I hear if newegg will be kind enough to send me a new card or laugh at me for being stupid, so no rush.
If anyone needs mroe info, please let me know. I'll try my best to provide it. Btw, the card worked fine with the bigger arctic silencer on it so I don't think it over-heated.

Thank you so much for your help dolf.
Just a word of warning to others.... GET YOUR BIOS CHECKED before you try the boot CD, don't be stupid and flash happy like me!
Really can't thank you enough for your help dolf and others.

I have the exact same card I just purchased. I flashed w/the bootable ISO image that I assume you used as well. I had no problems and it took only a few seconds. I did read on one of these posts that if you increase your clock/memory speeds BEFORE you flash that you could possibly have issues. It was suggested to make sure your clocks are at stock default speeds before flashing.

If you have your original BIOS saved please post it here or send it to me. There are several possible reasons for failure:
Wrong BIOS modding to 16 pipes
Bad media (CD)
Bad record of the boot CD (you succeed with the floppy)
Bad contact (AGP slot) - you need to uninstall and install the card again
and so on ..........
If you don't succeed with RMA I will try to help you but let start with the BIOS ;) .

Well I did some further stability testing and came up with concrete numbers for you. 430mhz GPU and 540mhz for Memory. And Yes a Sapphire X800GTO AGP with R430 and Realto Bridge already modified to 420/525 with your bios. So if you could modify the bios with 430mhz GPU/540mhz MEM it would be much appreciated. I feel I am close to the top end speed wise this card can produce would you agree?
Thanks In Advance Dolf
