Black holes are very black. The only way you can hope to detect one is by the x-ray emissions created as it sucks in light and matter. No visible light can be detected because even the light surrounding it can not escape it's gravitational pull. By green they mean environmentally friendly, in regards to the fact that if you could harness the destructive forces of a black hole you could efficently generated massive amounts of energy.

Green = Environmenatally friendly
