I'm planning to move my second computer(HP Media Center) to new case because of heat reasons, and I was just wondering if I have to re-format the hard drive and have a clean install of Windows XP or can I just move it without re-formatting or a clean install.
Things I'm going to move:
MotherBoard w/ Processor/Heatsink
DVD-RW Drive
DVD-Rom Drive
250GB Seagate Barracuda HD
Video Card
Everything else including a 400 watt PSU is going to be new.

Ok then, thanks.
Also, do I need to remove the heatsink/processor or can I just keep it on when I move it?

Just take everything out of the old case but keep your mainbord as one piece. Ram and Processor stay on, only take the AGP, PCI or whatever stuff out. Same with the HD's. Put them in the other case and you will be fine. No need to reformat or anything. Your replacing your case not your motherboard or whatever.

Just make sure you hook them up the same way. Hook up the right port if it's sata. Hook up Primary Master etc or whatever if it's IDE. You may want to take the heatsink off if it is very heavy or isn't mounted very well.
