Other than just raw power, are the x1900's better in crossfire than x1800's? Meaning more bugs worked out etc. I know some of the big issues like the old limitation of 1600x1200 @ 60hz is gone with the new CF chipsets out. I'm planning on probably getting a x1800xt CF edition along with a DFI CFX3200 sometime this summer. So I was wondering if it'd be worth it to sell my x1800xt for an x1900xt and get an x1900 cf edition instead?

Yeah, I think that the R580's are better in CrossFire, because they're more powerful cards. But the X1800 Series have gotten cheaper lately(like an X1800 XT 512MB for low $300). If you're willing to spend the money, go X1900, but X1800's aren't that bad either for CrossFire. personally, I can't afford both, I'm ghetto.

Well I'm not talking about just being more powerful, I had figured they would be faster. I was wondering if the x1900's were less glitchy in crossfire or had more bugs worked out than the x1800's did. Thanks for the reply though.

As far as I know, there aren't any further bugfixes...

But the X1900 CF cards are much cheaper to buy, than the X1800 CF cards...

I must disagree with you on that. $386 (http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/product.asp?dept%5Fid=268&pid=13476&sid=KVXW8GVML6R38NADFSLJP42BBTUDDD97%%3E#packageco ntent) vs $570 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814195001). However thanks for the reply. I think I'll just go with the r520 CF then. :)

Ok...

semms so, as if the Prices were much different in Germany.
In Germany its hard to acchive a X1800CF card and they are very expensive (klick) (http://www.geizhals.at/deutschland/a180971.html) and the X1900 CF card is cheaper (klick) (http://www.geizhals.at/deutschland/a185501.html) ...

Didn't really think about the opportunity, that the prices could be so different in America

in the UK the 1800 master works out at about the same price as the 1900 master.. which kinda makes the 1800 master a rip-off.. it also tends to suggest to me ati dont really want u to take c/f 1800 way.. he he

i think the 1800 way is the sensible way thow.. the power requirements aint so dramatic.. the nice cheap x1800xt makes up for the rip-off master i recon..

If I were you, I would actually wait until the driver for X1800 GTO CrossFire comes out. You still have a pretty powerful card for about $200 and lower. Just get two, and you don't need that external CF dongle. It has the on-chip CF Bridge.

Yeah guess not. I wouldn't have either. If you ever need anything cheap from the states though I'd be glad to help you out.

Not a bad idea, but selling my card and getting 2 GTOs would be less than two XTs. It would save me money, but I'd imagine the gain of 2 GTOs over a single XT wouldn't be huge. And if I do end up needing to save money, I could just ditch this idea. The whole thing is pretty crazy anyway. It's pretty sweet that the CF GTOs won't need the dongle though; however the dongle doesn't particularly bother me.

They'te both good though, either GTO's or XT's. One reason why I like the GTO's is that they're not dual-slot. And they don't run as hot. It gives both the cards some breathing room. If I ever get two cards (which I might soon) I'll use liquid cooling.

Yes, I agree as well. GTO's in Crossfire are worth every penny. Besides, I heard you can unlock them, no? Some people say you can't, but HKEPC makes it sound so believing... :respect:

That's the other thing I was wondering is how do you overclock when you've got two cards. Does it overclock them together as one, or do you have to do them individually? I can't even overclock the XT I have now. ATITool always crashes with it, even with the latest beta versions.

Oh, I didn't notice that you already have an XT.

Well, Allstarshop got the XT CF edition back in stock, but it's back up to $450 after rebates. I'm still willing to pay that, but it's not as nice of a deal as $360. So I can get the pure ATI CF retail version for $450, an OEM version of the same card for $409, a Sapphire retail version for $399, or I could get a Gigabyte x1900 CF on Newegg for $490. I'd rather not get the Gigabyte because it's a different card and a company I'd rather not get. Everyone I've known that has gotten a Sapphire has had problems with it. (My one friend had to RMA his 3 times and eventually just got another card after the 3rd time.) The OEM version if I'm correct comes with no warrenty. So I think that I'll still end up getting the retail x1800 CF. Any suggestions that I do otherwise?
