Thats right boys and girls this is not for the faint of heart! So heres what you do, I decided to pick 3DMark05 for this as its fairly safe to bet everybody has it. The torture test is basically the other end of the scale to a benchmark, the goal is to find out just how much your card struggles, chokes, or in some peoples cases plain flat out dies and lay there flat face and motionless :D

Bit you need to know:

screen res: 1280*1024
AA: 8xs
AF: 16x
Quality: Maximum quality

Test to loop for 5 passes: Canyon flight

If any ATi guy wants to join in feel free, just set settings to as close as possible to the nvidia settings given.

Thats it! Post a screenshot after of your FPS, clock speeds, and if you want cooling used.

No screenshot atm but with the above settings I got 10.5 FPS with my 6800GT @ 400 \ 1.1GHz, by far not great, but its not my max clock, and because I'm lazy I STILL havent fitted that VF900, I know, I REALLY have to fit that.

I'd be happy to, but unfortunatly the demo version dosen't have that option. You can only run the base 3dmark, nothing else.

I can run one I'm a pro user (two 05 licences actually one for my rig and one I use to test new gpu's at work.)

based on my previous run maxed out details let's see what was that?
ah here it is

cpu at 2.75GHZ X1800XT at stock. so lets see what overclocked this thing is capable of at max everything!

Hmm, if I did this right, I am getting 21FPS at 1024x768 (my monitor wont go higher). There are a bunch of other tests like CPU, did you want those on or off?

Radeon X850 Pro 12 Pipe 530MHZ Core 570MHZ Memory.

Don't have the full version of 05, so I can't really run AA/AF, high resolution, repeat test, or looping. I did get http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1972334 , so your cards blow mine away here, he he. Guessing if I could run the "torture test" this card would do about 1fps, yea! Maybe 2fps if I ran this card at 500/500 (estimated max clock speeds for 2006 9600 AIW using ATI Tool, but never used or tested).

ouch thats a painful score :p you tried OCing that memory for some much needed bandwidth?

Don't want to burn out my card:cool: as I can't replace it until next year:cry: . Actually the memory is OC'd. It runs 195.75mHz stock=391.5mHz DDR. One reason I run it only 4.25mHz faster is that the chips are rated at at 200mHz=400mHz DDR by Samsung. Not a very fast or powerful card when compared to most PCI-E cards, but this system was designed before AGP began it's faze out more than a year ago:banghead: Almost went with the 9600XT, but wanted 256MB memory, and the built by ATI version only had 128MB. Have had bad experiances with cheaper ATI clones and nVidia in the past:slap: (no disrespect to those that swear by PowerColor or nVidia). One thing I don't do is jump into the newest hardware until it proves itself reliable for a year or so.

Next year will be upgraded to Ultimate 775 MMC, it will be a monster:respect: I still will sit with this rig for a while longer until it can't play games anymore:D

Not everyone has Pro version so even if this has over 70 views, is doesn't mean we can do it.
