I have a Sapphire 9800 Pro -XT flashed with the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer on it.

This setup has been running fine for over a year. Now all the sudden It has been getting warm on me. I can't even play games for very long and it will not lock up, but basically eject me from the game. I look down and my Temp on the video card is up over 60.

I just flashed the card back down to the original PRO not XT and the temp is still up around 70 IDLE!! Or so ATITool 0.24 says GPU/CHIP is 70/50.

I already have a total of 6 fans in this case and everything else is keeping cool. Any idea why my card would be doing this?

Thanks for any help

awww shucks.

I see the problem now. Looks like one of my ram chips got toasted. I took it out and looked over it. It is fried. At least it still works till I can replace it.

What is a good replacement card that is obviously a step up, but still in the 100-150 dollar range?

I would prefer to use the VGA cooler on what ever else I get.

This (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131010) looks nice. Not sure if your cooler will work with it.

Well are you lookin for ATI or nVidia? And do you want PCI, PCI-E or AGP?

I would second the X800GTO.

Although, if you want to go Nvidia-

Only 8 pipelines, but after reading this-
http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/286/2/

I think it may be unlockable. NV41 is a PCI-E native part, and it looks liek they just locked down 4 pipes and slapped it on a 7800GS pcb. Pretty nice card if it unlocks.
