ati 9600xt problem

I have asus p4p800e deluxe motherboard with latest bios with p4 2.8 prescott and 1 gig corsair memory with sata drive and ati 9600xt. The problem I am having is that when I connect a sony 70 xbr950 tv through dvi connection I get garbled post screen till windows start and then everything is perfect at resolution of 1744x768 on the tv. If I connect my monitor via dvi post screen is fine and windows is fine too. For some reason initial post screen is garbled on bootup on the tv so I have to connect a monitor every time I need to get in to bios screen. Can anyone help?? Thanks in advance for any advice.

The card might be driving some unknown format before Windows initializes. I know mine defaults to PAL B for some reason.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to find out the mode the card boots(pal or ntsc) and can it be changed? Any other suggestions welcome and appreciated.
