Unfortunately after formatting my hard drive and installing windows, I am a "victim of software counterfeiting". I'm trying to install a new D-Link USB2 hub, but Windows isnt recognizing it. Could someone confirm my theory that because it is a "counterfeit" Windows XP, it did not retrieve the necessary software for USB devices to work properly (Service Pack 1?). If this is the case, I will probably end up buying another copy of Windows XP Pro.

Calm down, now it seems that since you reinstalled windows, it got angry and said you were bad and evil. Call windows, say you did a reformat, and then you get a new number. For the usb hub, it cannot be a windows counterfeit issue!
