Hello i just got a new 20.1" 16:9 monitor and its native res is 1680x1050 Pixels. I set my video option to 16:9 but it will only give me the option to use 1600x900 res, how do i make it use 1680x1050?
Also i tryed editing the profile for BF2 to that res but it just crashes.

Is there an option for 16:10, that might be it.

Nope. Has something to do with "+szx 1680 +szy 1050" People say that works but when i try it my monitor saysd its out of range.

for css chose the 10:9 ratio and then you can select the 1680x1050 res from the drop down menu, for bf2 all its gonna do is stretch the video out i recommend using the 1280x960 res in bf2 and then setting your video scaling on your monitor to wide it stresses the video card less then the sxyz command line option and it still gives you the same effect since the max res bf2 will put out is 1280x1024 anything else it just stretches the video but if u want to right click on your bf2 short cut and go to property's under the shortcut tab put +szx 1680 +szy 1050 in the target box after all the other mumbo jumbo so it reads "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050
whoops i accidentally said 1280x1050 for css its correct now

But why would you choose a low res like 1280x1050, he wants to play in 1680x1050, that's why he got the monitor.

bf2 short cut and go to property's under the shortcut tab put +szx 1680 +szy 1050 in the target box after all the other mumbo jumbo so it reads "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

my 20 inch 16 x 9 monitor has a native resolution of 1680x1050 but my favourite gaming resolution was 1400 x 900 and i play oblivion at 1280 x 800..
folks dont always buy monitors to always use em at their max possible resolution..
if u cant work out why i cant be arsed to explain..

Hey flyer,
There was an issue with the 7800 and 7900 cards w/ widescreen monitors. I just got the Viewsonic 2028XM (I believe I got the model right...could be off slightly). However, I did read some fixes on hardforum.com. You might want to check it out. Unfort., I cant be of much more use since I am using my X800 card w/ this monitor. My 7800 is on a 17" LCD.

he he...Well, if you know you're not going to be playing at 1680x1050 on a 20 inch 16:9/10 Widescreen, why don't you save yourself $100 and get a 19 inch at 1440x900 or so?

For sure, but it wasn't that funny and i didn't get it for that, any was when i put "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050 in there my monitor says it out of range even though it 1680x1050.
Edit: Also where is this 16:10 setting in game in BF2 that you are all talking about??

i buy a monitor for its actual visible screen area.. not its max resolution..
i dont follow your logic to be honest.. 20 is bigger than 19.. 19 is bigger than 17.. 17 is bigger than 15.. 15 was bigger than 14.. he he he.. its always been this way..
come on dude the resolution u set your monitor at might well be its max one.. but only if the rest of your hardware lets u.. with games mine never has.. it depeneds on the game some older ones are no problem.. but the newer power hungry games are always limited by your grfx card however super your monitor resolution is..
oblivion still looks pretty super duper on my 20 widescreen by the way at 1200 x 800 with AA running..
as for me choosing 1400 x 900 its cos the fonts in windows look tooo damn small and unreadable at 1680 x 1080 without mucho pissing about.. with games its down to maintainng decent frame rates..
but for some reason completely unknown to me.. even thow my x850 card let me use my favourite wide screen 1400 x 900.. my bloody 1900 card dosnt.. i get a million resolution choices i dont want but not the one i do..
its something to do with the way the cat drivers works.. with the x800/850 cards u get it with the 1900 card u dont..
sooo in windows its the monitors native resolution and lost of pissing about making font sizes bigger.. in games its whatever works and keeps the frame rates up high.. takes my word for it.. with the power hungry games it aint my monitors native resolution thow..
and resolutions far lower then 1600 x whaever still look good with AA and filtering maxed out..
