X800 SE Pipes Unlockable?

I've read most of what I could find about the X800 SE and it appears that it could have its pipes softmodded from 8 to 16 since it is a R420 chip. One review I read had a picture where there was a laser burned track between two contacts that might permanently disable the pipelines.

Just curious as I have had a lot of fun softmodding the 9500 and 9800se and wondered where the next softmod was going to come from. The X800 Pro VIVO unlocking is good but those cards are still $350+ and I got spoiled by the $150 I was paying for the 9500 & 9800SE. Right now the X800 SE isn't a very good deal as it's $330 or so, but if it could softmod as good as the X800 Pro VIVO then saving $50 would be worth something.

Also will all X800 Pro VIVO softmod or just certain ones?

Nearly all X800 Pro Vivos mod in a 16 Pipe card (from 12pipes)
However, some have better clock speeds than other. Some can run at XT PE speeds (520/560), others only 500/500

i experimented a bit and come to the conclusion that if i find a mod to unlock the se it will work on the pro too .. so it's very hard

In the link that he has submitted, there is this sentence: "The cooling system is fragrantly primitive :). A closed heatsink with a fan in the middle. However the fan speed depends on the temperature, so the cooler may be noisy. The new version of RivaTuner will be able to control the fan speed and so you will be able to set its rotational speed to a compromise level (between the noise and cooling efficiency)."

So I think that the card has a temp sensor... I have the X800Se card with the same cooling! And I can hear the fan incrementing the rpm when I play or I'm overclocking and testing...

In one of my posts i asked how can I look the temp, and someone answer that there is a sensor only in xt card... but this is in contrast with the article!

Someone can explain? How we can look the temperatuire? :confused: :rolleyes:

all x800 se's i've come across have temperature monitoring, full support in atitool is in the next atitool beta

I try to flash a pro bios on x800se ...
Work fine but not unlock the pipelines nothing! :(

the system recognize the video card as x800 420/m18 (8x1)
if someone know how change (8x1) to (12x1) post Here!

I dont have a floppy drive. So does any have good STEP by STEP inst. to mod with cd-rom?

sappirhed x800se drr3 256 agp is my video card, i try xpro800 256 agp samsung 2.0 bios and i try x800pro 256 vivo agp samung 1.6 with vivo disable bios (i disable vivo with rabit 1.6.) these bios work. but not unlock pipes

write the files for the bios and the flash to a cd and then boot from a win98 cd and dont start the
setup boot with cd-rom saport on and it weel run msdos 7.0 then insert the cd withe the bios and the flase program and run it.

The ultra HIGH settings r 4 512meg video card. No use of ultra high...

to unlock the pipes on the x800se flashing it is only half the work..

probably will need to hardmod it too..

You need to connect up points 1 and 4. BUT WAIT THERES MORE. (WHERE THE RED LINE IS)
There is some kind of insulator on the contact points. This is where the sharp knife comes in handy. Scrape away at each contact point (1 and 4, you can leave the others alone!) until you expose shiny shiny copper. Pay dirt. Now just connect these two points.

almost all x800 pro vivo (agps ;))

btw i wouldent bet on being able to mod it but a hard mod is definatly gonna need to be performed if u want to give it a shot

btw if u are sucessfull expect a x800xtpe out of it;)

High looks exactly the same, except it doesnt stutter :)

Not even W1zzard could manage to unlock a X800SE, he did the bios flashing and hard mods, no luck.

I run Ultra with my 6800 on Doom 3. It runs perfectly, but right after loading it stutters for about 4 seconds. Then its fine.

Had the same prob then went from one gig to two for memory. stuttering is now a thing of the past. :)
