I have a recovery CD, with all the windows stuff on it. But when I put it in, it pops up a window with all kinds of files in it. Anyways, how would I go about reformating my computer? I don't know what to do, im lost. could somebody please help me out?

Is your computer an OEM PC or did you build it yourself? The best thing to try would be to boot from the recovery disk and see what options you have.

It doesn't matter if its an OEM computer or one you built yourself, inorder to do a full reinstall of windows you must have a bootable XP disc (ISO). You can try downlading it and burining it to a disc as an ISO image, but thats illeagle and i don't recomend it. After you get an XP disc if you will need futher instruction on how to reinstall Windows on your computer PM me I'd be glade to help.

I guess it is OEM? I did not build it myself.

Yes, it will probably have a brand name like Dell or some other company. Try putting that recovery CD in your drive and boot to it and see if any of the options allow you to reinstall windows. :toast:

When i had a DELL a long time back, it came with a recovery disk, and thats all i had to do, it booted from the CD and the rest was history, fresh install of windows! :) So much faster!
