Something has changed with X800 detection? This version, as opposed to 23 beta 9, is much closer to what I have been running the X800 in games and benches as my max overclock. In fact its so close that I have decided to just run what the tool is showing as my max OC.
Great job!

Any news on solving the 3d Detection / AMD64 issue - wherby it stops IE etc. from working if 3D Detection is enabled? I have seen the exception list - is there something in there I can put to ignore all of these apps affected by this (IE, Outlook + others etc.) or will I have to add them all individually.

Just installed the beta 10 and was trying to set up all the parameters. ATI-tool crashes on me once I start trying to open the hardware monitoring. (Tried several times each time the same issue)
Asus A8V, Athlon 64 3500, Radeon 9800 XT, MBM5 and Speedfan 1.17 running in parallel to ATItool. ATI 4.10 driver set running. - Anyone confirmations?
Will continue to single out more details on the cause - over the week-end.

There seems to be an error in the new scanning method, for beta 10 (this one). In this version, scanning for artifacts for the memory (like, doing the max mem thing) it will just continue to go up, not detecting anything. When even artifacts are vizible to the naked eye. When going to the "old" scanning methed, it is now fixed and detects the artifacts correctly. In beta 9, this "error" didnt accure. For info on my card, its:
Visiontek Radion 9100 128mb (r200) (its a pci card)
Device ID: 514D
If wondering what Cats im using, i am using the DNA-Drivers 3.4.4.11
Thank you for the support, and keep up the exelent work on the ATI Tool.

Hello, I'm back again,
Now I have permutated the dependencies. It is obviously the case, that ATItool hardware monitring function does not go together with Speedfan 1.17. Apparently the try to get information fom the monitoring chip and interfere with eachother.
Plainly running the two programmes beside eachother has not resulted in problems yet, so I believe it has to deal with the way how the hw monitoring is read out once the function is called up.

Hello,
I recently installed the latest ASUS AX800 XT/TVD. My intention is to have a noiseless PC, so I need to control the speed of the fans.
The BIOS does manage all CPU and motherboard fans, but does not manage graphic cards fans.
So I installed SmartDoctor but it crashes the computer (blue screen). So I installed ATITool 0.0.23 beta 10.
I don't see any Fanspeed options in the setup screen.
Is it normal?

I see you alse said (http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/94) that ASUS may also use another kind of chip.

Great work with the prg so far, W1zzard! I've seen that you can change the FSAA and AF settings if you right-click on the ATITool tray icon. Would it be possible to add application based selection (turn it on for older games, where you can't do it in the game, but not permanently)? Or just the way you can choose profiles with the difference that here you have to list exes where you want the feature to work (unlike in 3d detection)?

@ Wizzard or anyone who knows,
Ive got a ASUS x800pro (non vivo). I flashed the card with x800xt bios (after connecting the lasercuts).
The device ID b4 flash is 4A49 (using ATI Tool)
The device after flash still reads as 4A49 (using ATI Tool)
But if i use rabit to check out the bios it reads 4A50?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/jakogvp/mR%20Yellow/Rabit.jpg
BTW i wasn't able to unlock xtra pipes. ATI tool still reads it as 12.
So maybe their is some other hardware lock. That doesn't allow u to change device ID even when the bios ID reads as 4A50!
Any insight will be appreciated

**BEFORE FLASHING THE BIOS, MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR OLD ONE**
*************************************************
To back up your BIOS: (Floppy 'A')
(a) Create a bootable floppy disc with flashrom on it by double clicking the Flasher+Floppy2.37.exe.
(b) Restart the PC with the floppy disc inserted & boot in DOS.
(c) Once activity has ceased you will be at the A:\ prompt, type the following command line to back up your existing BIOS:
flashrom -s 0 backup.bin
You now have a file on the floppy disc named 'backup.bin' this is your original BIOS which you may require at a later date.
(d) Remove the floppy disc & reboot the PC.
*************************************************
To flash to the Gigabyte X800XT BIOS for enabling the 4 locked pipelines (Floppy 'B')
(a) Create a bootable floppy disc by double clicking the DrDos boot disc creator.
(b) Unzip the Gigabyte Flash utility & X800 XT BIOS, then place the files on the floppy disc.
(c) Restart the PC with the floppy disc inserted & boot in DOS.
(d) Once activity has ceased you will be at the A:\ prompt, type the following command line to flash the BIOS:
GVF11 -p -f A:\r80x256v.f1
(e) Remove the floppy disc & reboot the PC.
************************************************** *
To flash to the ATI Retail X800 XT BIOS, for improved over clock (Floppy 'A')
(a) Insert floppy disc 'A' into into the floppy drive (leaving existing files in tact).
(b) Place the file downloaded Retail ATI X800 XT BIOS ( X800XT.bin ) on to the floppy.
(c) Restart the PC with the floppy disc inserted & boot in DOS.
(d) Once activity has ceased you will be at the A:\ prompt, type the following command line to flash the BIOS:
flashrom -p -f 0 X800XT.bin
(e) Remove the floppy disc & reboot the PC.
************************************************** **
I recommend you retain the 2 floppy discs for future use.
If you have followed the instructions carefully you should have a fully fledged ATI Radeon X800 XT 520mhz core / 560mhz memory.
Due to the heat generated by the additional 4 pipelines your maximum core over clock is likely to be reduced by on average 20mhz.
Do it correctly and you will have a full working 16 pipes

I think that instead of the only graphic of the temperaure, will be usefull even a function that passing the mouse over the line indicates the temperature of that moment, like asus probe recording for example.
And perpahps also a function that show the core temperature in game! Like fraps show fps...
You decide one of the four angle, and atitool show the temperature. But only if one decides to see it!
There are games like CS that (i think) recognize some overlayed effect or numbers like cheats! It's happened to be banned for having the control of mp3 during the game!!! :)
sorry for sounding like a noob, but in Settings/Miscellaneous/Catalyst A.I level, do i need the Catalyst CCC in order for the "Catalyst A.I" function to work? i'm using the old Control Panel and wanted to make sure there's no conflict. thanks in advance. :)

Hi i have connect3d provivo modded to xt800xtpe and when using the beta version i get lots of artifacts all the time but when using the last stable version no problems ,,could the the beta version have a bug of some sorts(i have sp2 installed). when i run 3dmark 2005 i dont see any artifacts

ati tools artifact detection is not fully reliable on the stable version
just imagine on the beta version...

In that case i would say that artifact detection is not reliable at all on atitool because i did run 3dmark 2005 3 times in a loop and all the tests i made on atitool and 3dmark2005 were at default clock speeds 520/560 and like i said 3dmark run perfectly with no visible artifacts at all and atitool reported artifacts immediately after clicking the scan button

tell us more about your configuration .. this shouldnt happen .. any difference if you use the old scanning method?

@Alex
i got the same memory and im interresed too.
I found this data sheet http://www.samsung.com/Products/Semiconductor/GraphicsMemory/GDDR3SDRAM/256Mbit/K4J55323QF/ds_k4j55323qf_rev13.pdf
I think it is what we are looking for but it is a little too complicated for me.
If anyone couuld help us he will be welcome
It's not just too complicated for us but too complicated for everyone because there are two sets of parameters that have same labels. e.g. there is a MEM_TW2R with "3 clocks" value at the top of the list and there is also a MEM_TW2R with "1 clocks" value at the bottom of the list.
So, even if we're professional enough to decode the data sheet and figure out what parameters should be set, we're not able to do so because of the fore-mentioned reason.

w1zzrard youre right.when using old scanning method everything is normal as in the stable version.i have connect3d x800pro flashed to connect3d x800xt pe(still with stock cooling),amd xp2600,msi746f ultra motherboard and 1 gig of memory, but whats the difference with new and old scanning method

the new scanning method should still work .. what drivers are you using? settings?

i did already what you asked ,Did run driver cleaner first then installed ati drivers but now i get artifacts with both old and new scanning method and 3dmark runs smootly without any faults and did get a decent score too but this really puzzles me now, tried running few games too(hl2,Vampire..bloodlines) and i did not see anything wrong within the games either

what if you reduce the clocks by, say 100 mhz each?

Hi w1zzrard now this is getting really weird.First i went back to the old stable version to test and passed without problems then upgraded to beta and still problems haunted me . when i started scanning it began immediately to show errors ,stopped testing closed atitool started it and tested again for 8 times one test worked, no artifacts,no problems i am starting to believe that i have some sorts of compability issue with my hardware(forgot to mention that the errors i have are big while testing ,large pixel errors that cover 1/4 of the testing image which makes be believe if i really had these errors they should be seen while playing games) and reducing clock rates doesnt help, same thing happens

just wondering with the heating up phase of the overclocking, y is it that if u click on the graphic with the cube floating around that it increases the heat up time by 5 seconds?, and when it isnt in the heat up phase and u click on it it goes into a 5 second heat up phase, i am just wondering as to y this in there or if it is a bug or something

if i choose to do find max memory first should i go back to default memory and then do find max core? or can i leave the mem at a few mghz below the max and then do max core, i am just wondering if it will find a lower max core due to the additional heat produced by the memory allready being overclocked?
