Hey guys, just wondering when the turion X2 will be released? It's July and still I have yet to see a notebook containing this new cpu for notebooks for sale anywhere, let alone a decent review. I am going to university in September and so I will be needing a notebook, I'm looking at the Turion X2 because I thought that it was going to be released in the summer but are they pushing back its' release date?
Also, should I wait for Turion X2 or just go get a Core Duo? I want my notebook to be future-proof so basically I am looking at a 64 bit cpu that can run Vista, the Turion X2 is 64 bit but I also hear that even though the Core Duo is 32 bit, it can be upgraded to a 64 bit cpu in the future.

Yeah, memroms are the next notebook cpus from intel (after Yonah) which I believe is 64 bit. But those cpus are coming in Q4 2006 so I don't think I will wait for it (if Turion X2 is good)

Athlon X2's are great so Turion X2 as to be but then again the core duo are very good.

everyone will get turion x2's instead of athlon x2's because mobile processors overclock great, they operate at low voltage yet can be overvolted pretty high and then can be clocked like mad... kind of like core 2 but amd has higher efficiency per clock cycle and mobile processors have higher efficiency per clock cycle anyways so thats very high efficiency per clock cycle... conroe and merom will cost 500+ where the turion x2 im guessing will cost 200+ because its an amd :)

Yeah.... I know that Turion X2's will be good but when is it gonna come out!?!?!?

im guessing it will comeout sometime after conroe because amd is always one step behind yet one step forward... if that doesnt make sence then put it this way, amd isnt always on top of technology, 65nm processing, future 45nm processing... yet is more powerful than intel always

Of course then you haven't seen the benchies? Conroe > AMD Fx-64

this isnt about fx62 this is about turion 64x2 which will destroy the conroe... and also there is no such thing as fx64... retard

Bullshit, it uses the wrong platform.
kind of like core 2 but amd has higher efficiency per clock cycle and mobile processors have higher efficiency per clock cycle anyways
Wrong! The X2 Turion has a lower IPC than the X2 Athlon, not just that, but current Core Duo's, and Core 2 Duo's have a higher IPC than both the Turion X2 and the Athlon X2 - and they need less energy as they are built on a more advanced process...
conroe and merom will cost 500+ where the turion x2 im guessing will cost 200+ because its an amd :)
Nope, current trends suggest that Intel will outprice AMD in these areas. And since Core Duo prices will drop too, we should see a clear Intel lead in the budget end of dual-core mobile computing...

wat do u mean will outprice amd? if u mean it costs more, thats true and what i said in my post... i meant to say also that turionx2 will have better performance to cost ratio im just posting info i learned about turion x2 and conroe... :shadedshu

No, I mean Intel will have lower prices than AMD for comparable performance. The Core Duo is already faster and cheaper than the Turion X2...

not the ee core duo

AMD have nothing to match that though, so that is not part of the argument... You lost, go home.

amd will have something to combat the ee because amd wont let intel get ahead and also price it 100$ lower to get more sales and slowly raise the price as sales raise
You're an idiot, it's official... What did you do? Pull out your crystal ball...
