Is the metal painted? or is it bare naked?

its bare naked, I tired rubbing alcohol, it helped a tiny bit, I still dont know what, its a stain that I want to get off...

Oh... yeah I was gonna say I would use 90%+ alcohol. Not sure beyond that. It's a color stain and not a residue, correct?

Its just like a grayish stainish something, its no leftovers, I scraped msot of that off... Its just like spilling oil on concrete, and leaving it there for a day or two, looks liek that but lighter.

use some thing like ajax or comet sink scrub cleaner.only if the original finish is matt (not mirrored or chromish)
