Best Warcraft-like free game...

I'm looking to find the best modern Warcraft like game (so I can buy it). I'd prefere if it was free and I've heard Guild Wars is good and I'm not sure if RF Online is too bad but it's old so might not have such a thriving community for much longer. Just something a little less intense than BF2 when I'm feeling more tired? Any recommendations?

but wow has more community and its a longer, more addicting story.
if you play both, wow and gw, you'll see, that gw has very many similarities to wow

GW is like a free version of WoW, not as many features and less people. That being said, I hate both WoW and Guild Wars.

Guild Wars all the way! Great game...story is alright, about in the middle of long and short, but PvP is what lasts long...

i think, because fear is really intensive and bf2 is a rest compared to fear

If you want a really free online rpg, try kal-online
i personally hate it, it has awful graphics and looks like a free guild wars copy, but ist an alternative solution if you want a free game

I see your point...I woulda never thought of it that way...smart. But he could play F.E.A.R., then BF2, then Guild Wars. Guild Wars is a good game to play if you're eating at the same time. I could never do that in CS:S...

I thought Lineage II was an alright game. There are free servers out there but I don't know how legal they are to use. I tend to avoid MMORPGs after promising myself I would (I lost 6 months of my life with Ultima Online).

I have to state that Lineage II, like most other MMORPGs I have seen/tried at friends places, tends to get grindish. I tried games like Planetside and now BF2 (no monthlies) and I don't find them grinding at all. If you like to see character development then play on ranked servers and keep an eye on your stats. hehe

hey i like Kal-online and iv followed it for quite a while they have upped it so much if you dont like it now you would have lothed it b4 another good free online one is knight online i have RF online but i dont have a key or w/e and i cant get one it makes me mad cause i thought it was free but i tried making an account and it was like lol were's your credit card number? i was like WTF a ! gig download for this? :mad: if you guys can help me out on that that would be great and those are what i have to contribute to this thread.
