Ati 6.6 softmod coming?

Still no update for the current Ati 6.6 driver. Is the project retired or something wrong with the 6.6 driver? Will it come out soon?

I'm waiting for it too. I wonder if W1zzard could explain how to patch it to us someday.

Maybe he has no R300 running anymore.

If W1zzard doesn't support it anymore we have to wait until a new RivaTuner is coming out. It has R300 softmod as well but current version doesn't work with 6.6.

hello to all, I am really sadly over it that there is no softmodded drivers more for my 9800 se :-(
since some month I was happy that techpowerup offers me a very cool softmodded driver--- W1zzard can you pls make for us a how-to ? that would be sooo great to know how to make a softmod myself.... so when you don´t have anymore a Radeon or such a card that we have you can give us yours know pass on us so a softmod will be released when a new original Radeon driver comes out.... would be very great ....thank you in advanced....

I read somewhere that one of the script modders(Unwinder) is too busy of late to continue making the script for the softmod. He states that he will do an update to his riva tuner at some point but I doubt it will be soon. I hope someone else can provide regular updates of some sort to patch the ati2mtag.sy_ ati driver file for future drivers as it would be unfortunate for those of us with the older softmoddable ati cards to have to be forever stuck with pre 6.6 cats.

I hope it's not the case but I think some of the softmod fellows are getting tired of spending masses of amounts of time sorting things like this out. Of course it goes without saying that most of us with softmoddable cards really appreciate the hard work which goes into it all.

Unless someone else understands assembly language and the driver's internals then we will just have to play the waiting game. :ohwell:

By this I didn't mean to suggest a canceled project. Merely that we will have to be patient for future softmodded driver updates.

What about creating a 'Softmod' thread where people can post their own modded 'ati2mtag.sys' that you could post afterwards to the download section? So many ppl can work on it and there's (hopefully) always one who will post. That would imply you post the instructions publicly.

I think its not necessary to provide a full driver package. The patched file should be enough.

I'm familar with simple "hex pattern" conversion, PE checksum correction, olly, ida, SI. But never touched Ring0 debugging.
