ok i got my Sapphire X800gto with the stock gay fan on it and i put it in and it worked fine, then turned it off and tried to install the Arctic Cooling Ati Silencer 5 rev 2, i had to take off a couple of the prongs because i only have two holes on my card. i eventually got it on and pluged it in and it worked but i had a black screen. my dad wiggled the power cables and i got the screen once for a split second and then it was still black, i reinstalled the normal fan and it works fine. now what do i do to get the AC fan to work on this card?

Sounds like you didn't have the power cables connected enough, or it's not plugged all the way into the mobo. Keep messing with it, a ATI silencer is WAY better than stock cooling, I know, I bought one myself ;).

The cooler doesn't overvolt the card in any way, so that's not going to be your problem. When you put it on, did you check around the card for any possible shorts? The cooler does come very close to some components on the card.
Your saying that with the cooler fitted, but not plugged into the fan header on the card, it works? You might have a faulty fan that's shorting out the board.

Your problem, sir, is that you haven't read the install instructions. It is clearly stated that ALL PADS must touch all the chips and that you should take a sideway look to see if the pads do touch the chips. The install instructions are precise and are the only way to install the card. Don't be shy and make those black rubber washers squeel when you fix the cooler up, they have to be screwed all the way, until it is blocking you from doing so. The GPU brachet in the back must be screwed with the curved sides going outwards.
Just make sure the cooler makes contact with all the chips, or else you're screwed.

If you have an X800GTO with an R420 core, then I'd be surprised if it fit AT ALL...that explains the 2 mounting hole issue. I reccomend you RMA the ATISilencer5 and get either ATISilencer4, which will fit on R420, or a surefire cooler like the Zalman VF-700. Next time you take off the cooler and clean the core, make sure that your card has an R430 or an R480. ATISilencer4 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835186136) only has 2 mounting holes like your card, so I'd be very surprised if you got the ATISilencer5 to work.

its a r430 and i had to mod the fan because the boad only comes with 2 holes, i got it to fit with the bar bracket on back, now i pulled off the 3 pin connector head and tried to tie it directly into the PSU, still didnt work and i cant RMA so im going to look into another cooler

I know exactly what he's talking about...
the recent X800GTO's with blue PCB don't come with ramsinks...so there's no holes to mount the ramsinks...therefore the ATISilencer5 does not fit correctly (unless you remove the 3 prongs) because the ceramic ramsink is secured with 3 prongs.
I had to buy a Zalman, which come with ramsinks that are attached with sticky pads.
