The athlon 64 939 3000+ , runs at 1800 MHZ. When at stock speeds, the Memory frequency in CPUZ is 129 MHZ, no matter what the BIOS setting (200, 166, 133) is. So why is a 200MHZ DDR module needed? This is even after C&Q is disabled. Is this to suggest that the CPU works best only if overclocked?

The CPU: DRAM field in CPUZ shows CPU/14, and this seems to be limiting the RAM speed. Is this another lock? Can any one can shed light on this?

this is not right.the 3000+ works at 200x9 so at default conditions the ram should work at 200 mhz also.
set your dram freq. manually to 200 from bios.

set your dram freq. manually to 200 from bios.

I have already tried that. CPUZ still reports RAM at 129.
Also, increasing the RAM speeds does not result in overclocking. The only time the CPU is overclocked is when the CPU frequency (HTT) is increased. Increasing this value increases the CPU speed (by a factor of 9, the multiplier being locked), and also the RAM frequency ( CPU speed/14)
