from newegg.com with the blue card. Is it possible to fit this on the card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.asp?Image=35%2D186%2D129%2D03%2Ejpg%2C35 %2D186%2D129%2D04%2Ejpg%2C35%2D186%2D129%2D01%2Ejp g%2C35%2D186%2D129%2D02%2Ejpg%2C35%2D186%2D129%2D0 5%2Ejpg&CurImage=35%2D186%2D129%2D03%2Ejpg&Description=ARCTIC+COOLING+AVC%2DAT5+Rev%2E+2+72mm +Ceramic++High+Performance+VGA+Cooler+for+ATi+%2D+ Retail

I have this thing sitting on my desk still in the packaging and I've received my new Sapphire with the blue card, 16 pipes unlocked out of the box instead of the listed 12.

I don't plan on overclocking, I just want to keep it as cool as possible.

Right now it idles at an avg temp of 42C and avg 64C during full load. I have a pci slot fan blowing directly under it. I just want to protect my investment because I know if it runs hot al l the time this could shorten the lifespan of the card.

Most have said that it won't work with this card, some say it took some slight (breaking stuff) modifications to get this cooler to work. Please let me know. Thanks a ton!

That heatsink will not fit if the PCB design does not have the 3 holes on it to mount the backplate. U will have to reomve the 3 posts on the heatsink in order to mount it. Return it and either get the Artic Cooler that fits the 420 core or get the Zalman VF700. I bought that same heatsink for a x800gto 100131sl AGP card and it would not fit unless I modified it. I just kept the heatsink as a spare for a x850xt PE card I have and bought a ZalmanVF700 to mount on the x800gto. I worked awesome!!!
