I've seen that it is possible to unlock the Sapphire X800GTO's extra pipelines, but I have seen no information about POWERCOLOR's X800GTO. Can somebody please help me, thanks! :toast:

i have the Powercolor X800GTO and found that the R423 Chip was lazer cut and was able to reconect with cuductive paint. after i did that the fuse data showed the card with 16 pipes and new values with no flash

Use ATI Tool and post the fuse data and chip type. From there, we can see if it's unlockable and what can be done if it is.

I have the same card as you but agp, I have a r430 core and it's unlockable, virtually and physicaly:banghead:

Believe it or not they bin-ed down some 1800xt's to x800GTO because they were so popular.

no x800gto, will do this, have any proofs beside your word?, you're probabily hear it wrong, anf the guy said x1800GTO to 1800XT, if you show some proofs we will believe you

Some are unlockable and some are not, It depends GTO use the outside of the waver on the chips they make(The inside of the wafer is the best were all the pipes work). Some times the wafer is good on the out side and all the pipes will unlock, somthings they will not. Other times they run out of them(when its really popular) and they bin more expenize chips in just to sell them. So sometimes you will get a 800XT that was bined to a 800gto just becaue they ran out of chips. What I was saying was some x1800xt got thrown in with the 800GTO(Hard to belive yes I know) only a few of these tho.

Technically...they could drop it to the specs of an X800GTO...then disable SM3 and HDR in the bios and then disable some pipelines...and then set the card on fire and do a rain dance.
I have never seen one flashed to a x1800xt,(I was told this) I look into this and see if anyone on the net has ever done it. I find it hard to belive my self, but where this info came from I chouse to belive in this crazy thing.

Thats what was said, I was told that the 800GTOs were selling like hotcakes, and the x1800xts at the time were not selling very well. They ran out of chips so they bined what they had pelenty of at the time.
when did they said this to you?

The only card I know of that uses parts from an older generation is the 7600GT. It uses a 6600 PCB I think...but not the core. There's one of the reasons it is so cheap. Now if it only had 256-bit memory it would be unbelievable for the price.

Had one two cards ago, excellent if still a little pricey in europe, got me to 7300 in 3D Mark 2005 :toast:
