"V For Vendetta"

:)

I picked it up last night for something mellow to do @ home, & didn't regret it one bit... imo @ least, it's one of those you will/would watch 2x in a row, immediately (and, I did so in fact).

* It's definitely "up there" (and, yes "out there" to an extent - for lack of a better expression) in terms of being a really good film!

(Says a lot of things, 'between-the-lines', about the world today as well, imo @ least)

APK

P.S.=> See it... Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith from "The Matrix") has an INCREDIBLE presence, based on his voice intonations alone imo, as the main character "V", & is basically a good person, albeit one "twisted" by horrible circumstance & vengeance as well, but in his case? It's "righteous indignation"... apk

It's really good... I think you may like it. Hugo Weaving is not only good dramatically, but you "feel for his character", & he is QUITE the orator (the main character is funny as hell, but @ the same time smarter than heck also).

APK

P.S.=> Heh, you caught me in one of my patented 'edits'... no big deal, point is? See it... apk

It is... I have to whole heartedly agree!

I like the 'Guy Fawkes' plot storyline ;)

Well, for myself? I was never aware of that person... now, I am!

:)

(Hugo Weaving, again, does a HELL of a job portraying the main character & stole the show so-to-speak... it often amazes me, how some actors can play other people SO WELL, or duplicate accents from other cultures (many go underrated imo, Christian Bale is one such actor imo, as another example)).

APK

P.S.=> Again, I'd recommend it not only for its quality/production standards, but for the fact it's sort of trying to tell you "take a look around today & everday for the rest of your lives & make SURE it doesn't happen"... I thought so, unfortunately... apk

Here in the UK on the 5th of November is 'Bonfire Night', this is the day that Guy Fawkes tried to blowup the Houses Of Parliment and we celebrate it with fireworks and bonfires (on which a 'Guy' is burned)

Another "2 thumbs up"... cool!

* Enjoy it when & if you guys see it as well, if you have not: It's a "winner" from the 'dystopian' viewpoint.

It's a movie really similar to the book "1984"...about a government that has complete control of their citizens. Very good movie, even better and more informational book. You guys should check it out if you liked "V for Vendetta".

yeah, it did remind me of 1984.

but i think 1984 is a bit weirder. more intense than v for vindetta.

Just saw it tonight. Wow, that is a helluva movie. I didn't know that there were so many words that start with the letter V in the english language.

Good to know you liked it as well (lol, yea... "V", & his initial appearance using the letter v in every other word nearly to Natalie Portman's character, introducing himself).

Like I said earlier? Hugo Weaving did a HELL of a job - great orator!

P.S.=> When things like telling you HOW to "think, speak, & act" startup, look out...!

(& yes, it IS happening today, even here in the U.S.A., subverting your RIGHT to free speech, one of your "inalienable" rights, no less - that's B.S. to-the-max!)

Being "politically correct" is horsecrap,(& it IS "the mechanism" for taking away your rights, the startup of it) because you have EVERY right to say what you wish, & it is up to others to listen (or not), that's all...

In fact, A history prof. of mine (Phd etc.), circa 1984 or so, told me this:

"When you see 'little laws' startup, that grow into BIGGER laws that surround larger & larger bodies of people in them? Look out... don't think what happened in other nations can't happen here!" - Dr. Langdon, LeMoyne College, 1984

That has stuck with me ever since... & this film made it resurface in my memory in fact... along w/ filtration & fabrication of "news"... apk

I think V for vendetta is one of those movies that you have to sit back and apply to real life. They speak of chemical scares and the like, and in comparison right now we seem to have terrorist cells around every corner. If things keep going the way they are i wouldn't be surprised if we end up like that someday in the not too distant future.

Exactly...

:(

* You know who controls it, don't you?

(YOU ALL DO! Someday, you'll be running things folks like it or not, your age group... you hold the keys to it all!)

Well, this film's had a somewhat "profound effect" on me!

(Good film usually does)...

:)

* Note the avatar & signature change, from my previous "Star Trek original series episode 'The Doomsday Machine'"?

(Yes: It's that good of a film, imo @ least? Especially IF it can shift me from something I really like in Sci-Fi type stuff!)

APK

P.S.=> I say this, because of magibeg's statement above:

IMO, @ least upon retrospection & interpretation of things in this film & worldwide today?

Well, things today are looking MORE & MORE like what is described in this film as the 'world of tomorrow' & that spooks me a good deal...

E.G./Ala -> "homeland security" & the b.s. used to foist it upon us (Oh we got 'bad data' from our CIA etc. & intelligence fed us - yea, b.s.! Sort of like they didn't know "Pearl Harbor" was coming too, right?)

Especially this 'signal' of it (imo, @ least):

QUOTE V:

"Where once you had the freedom to object: To think and speak as you saw fit? You now have censors & systems of surveillance, coercing your conformity & soliciting your submission"

:)

Hey, there's an unusual "first":

BOTH guys AND gals like this one!

* V: "A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having!"

& imo, @ least? This film's a "revolution of the mind" (ala Vanilla Sky, another one I like!)

:)

(Excellent... & I am glad you enjoyed it as well!)

DUH! is an artificial race starts trying to destroy mankind the first thing u reach for is those EMPs!

He WAS great in that role, no doubt about it... as the TRULY "bad dude"!

BUT, wanna be surprised, as he is our "tragic hero" (villain to some though) in THIS film?

See it... I wouldn't b.s. you man! It's really good...
