I recently bought an XFX 7900GT. It wasn't the Extreme Edition but I Flashed it. I'm just wondering, is it possible for me to flash it to an 7900GTX ?

I'm pretty sure you cant, mostly because the cards are physically differnet. the gtx has 512mb ram, and the gt only has 256.

but since the gt and the gtx do use the same core, it could be possible to overclock to gtx speeds and beyond. its not unheard of.

you'll need to do a gpu voltmod (just google 7900gt voltmod. the process is pretty easy) because the gt's core runs about .2v lower than the gtx's. Also, you can do a mem voltmod too. With good enough cooling, you should be able to surpass the speed of a gtx.

Yep, once you're done with all of that you'll only be outdone by a GTX on ultra settings in the most demanding of games such as half-life 2 lost coast. They actually need the extra texture memory. Most games are fine with 256.

Thnx for info. I'm trying to get some conductive paint and then I'll do the mod. I bought the Zalman VF900 CU LED. Is that good enough for overclocking?

the vf900 should be ok. just make sure you have good exhaust in your case to suck out all that hot air from the zalman.

i'm interested in trying the voltmod too. what are your stock clocks right now?

looking forward to hearing the o/c results

My stock clocks ae GPU: 520Mhz Mem:700Mhz (1400Mhz True DDR speed)

I'm just having touble finding conductive paint in South Africa.

Will let you know what I get whem I do the mod.
