Ok someone told me its on the cpu but i cant look at that now, then i saw somewhere you can tell by your model, well my cpu box has a sticker and it says: Model 165 for single Processor Solutions (socket 939)
can i use that to find my stepping?

u have no idea what your talking about. thats revision not stepping, even though it says it is. if u dont know what your talking about, dont post cuz it doesnt help anyone. the stepping is written on the cpu itself as i have told u 10000 times noobcomputermaker. yet u refuse to accept that, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO GET IT EXCEPT LOOKING ON THE CPU ITSELF, once u have it post and ill tell u how good it is.

well buddy he gave me all the info i needed from his cpu-z i found some dude who had the exact same proccie down to everything and it seems he has hmm what stepping? CCBBE ya that was it. so i guess if you have the right resources as long as you find someone who has the exact same processor you can find the stepping nifty aint it?

LMFAO!!! You need the stepping plus the date of manufacture to tell if the CPU is any good, and you need to read it directly off the CPU. Guessing by what CPU-Z says is never a good idea. Half the time CPU-Z reads things wrong anyways.

1.) CCBBE is not a valid AXP stepping. (IIRC)
2.) The electronic stepping is a much broader stepping than most people use.
What he is most likely wanting is the minute details of his stepping. These of which you will HAVE to read off of the CPU label as they vary too much to be electronically input into thye cpu.
The only way to read the "stepping" most people use to determine overclocks is the label. no ifs, ands or buts. Thats the ONLY place its located.

That's not the right stepping, that's revision.
An example of a CPU Stepping is: LBBLE 0520DPAW(Stepping of Athlon 64 3000+)...you have to look at the CPU IHS(Integrated Heat Spreader) itself. No other way.
Sorry if someone already posted, no time to read past posts.

I do. I take TaeKwonDo 5 hours a day, yes, a day. Aside from that I do basketball(waiting for Spring), and I also go to my high school on weekends and run a few miles for fun. Yes, for fun.

I used to take taekwondo when I was younger than gave it up for drug abuse which I gave up for work And now trying to find something that will replace work. Did that guy ever figure out his stepping #

As I said, that is not a valid ATHLON XP STEPPING. ;)
That cpu-Z shot in no way shape or form tells you its a CCBBE however.

Lint free cloth. Qtips like to leave stuff behind..
I use a paper towel often....
You can take it out of the socket if you wish, its probably best, assuming you have something like a foam pad newegg ships cpu's on to use to protect the pins!
bending those sucks. I speak from experience. :o

lol ok, i went to a drug store near by and they are ordering a 99% alcohol for me. it well be here tomrrow, and today i finally got the screws that included the risers so im going to do that stuff tomrrow, going to take off the motherboard put the risers on clean the cpu off and heatsink and then put it all back togeather,oh and im going to write down what my cpu says lol. if i use 99% alcohol it should clean it pretty well right? like im not damaging it or like lowering the effectness of the arctic silver 5 by re doing it am i?

99% alcohol is plenty sufficient :)
Rub it on, wipe of the material on top the alcohol will evaporate.. and the AS5 will help the heatsink contact.
good luck!
