I am returning my MSI board so that I can get something a bit quieter. The northbridge fan is buzzing again, and all they will do is replace it with another defective design one.

Any suggestions on boards this time around?

My needs are.

SPDIF optical
RAID 0
I would like some more volts for the RAM as it can handle it.
Socket 939 of course.
Single PCIE port.

Is the board ok other than the loud fan?

I would suggest a DFI LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D, but it doesn't have SPDIF Optical, only Coaxial, and it has 2 PCIe slots, but the voltage for RAM goes all the way up to 4.0v, which is great.

Or if you don't want the DFI, here's a great board with everything you asked for:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813123258
SPDIF Optical and Coaxial
RAID 0
Good amount of voltage for RAM(though not as much as DFI's 4.0v)
Socket 939
Single PCIe Slot(nForce 4 Ultra)

Yes. I bought a board about 9 months ago and have already replaced the northbridge HS/F once, and will not replace it again with the same defective piece of crap, nor do I feel that for a non-overclockable piece that was poorly situated that I should have to pay $$$ for a decent cooling solution. And due to the fact that they are being asses and will not send even a $10 cooler to replace it, I will not use their boards anymore and will not reccomend them. So in short MSI can suck my big donkey dick while I have my foot up their ass.

Not me. I'm fuschia :D

American Indian is a insulting term to most tribes. My family is quarter Seneca. I just happen to be the whitey out of the bunch. Damn my luck.

I was joking around, except the part where I have a donkey dick. If you are really a 50 year old American Indian that has a thing for compys, and being insulted when people joke around, more power to you.

Lest we forget, you started the whitey comments. If that is your idea of a joke, you need to be educated (big surprise).

Now to educate you more, the term American Indian is only insulting to immature groups who are being told what is politically correct and what is not. I don't care to listen to the left's definition of what should offend me and what shouldn't. On the other hand I know a racist when I see one and you are a racist. Dont try to pretend it was a joke.

Wait, so I am white, and I cannot call myself whitey?

Do you understand what I am asking ?

Now as to the suggestion for a board, that Epox looks nice. And good price too, and well situated. Anyone else have any suggestions or experiance with Epox?

Nicely recovered Steevo.

I definatly don't see what sparked that little flaming session off. As far as i'm concerned your allowed to call yourself what you like, so drop all these bs racist accusations.

Epox board looks very good, I also love dfi (I dont trust boards by MSI as it is) I'd go with an epox, or an asus.

Personally, I love MSI boards. The NEO2 was a beast of a clocker. NO motherboard company ever put a decent fan on the NF4 chipset so no matter which you get replace it with a good one. ASUS gets my second vote. Another benefit for the board I run is that the chipsets are cooled passively and stay much cooler than the NF4's ever did. I still say if that board you have works well, just but a good chipset cooler.

I would LOVE to keep this board, but as I'm trying to buy a house and all, i don't want to spend money where I don't have to right now. The plain and simple truth is the cooler is defective in design, and they will not replace it with a better solution. If I am going to spend more money, it will be for a better board. They have refused to do anything but replace it again and again untill the board is out of warranty, then it becomes my problem. That is a piss poor attitude, and shitty customer service.

If I don't get to return it (they don't want me too) then I almost feel like I should buy another board and break this one up, take a crap on it, and then send it back for repair service.

MSI is teh geh.

I just got a e-mail from MSI "Exceding Expectations" they are sending me another piece of shit cooler. Wow. How retarded can these people get? I feel like stomping on the box when it gets here, cut a little hole, piss in it and refuse it.

Hell, mebey they could send me about 10 of them so I could have a three year supply.

retards.

Well, it arrived. And it was a much better cooler. Just needs a little lapping, and some AS5. Sucks that it will take two hours to remove the board and change though.

Now instead of sucking elves balls, all MSI does is use farm animals in unintended ways.
