View Full Version : Games that hate ATI

I was wondering what games hate ATI cards. In other words, the ones that play much better on Nvidia cards simply because they were made to do so. Game#1 is Titan Quest without a doubt. That game plays horribly on my X800GTO with 16pp. Empire Earth II doesn’t play much better on my x800 than it does on my old 256MB GeforceFX 5500, which is not even close to being as powerful as the x800, so Empire Earth II is another. What else do you guys know of?

Doom 3 used to be a big lead for nVidia, with mid-range cards(back then, 6600's) beating high-end ATI cards(back then, X800's). Though not all the time, you would always see nVidia with the lead in most OpenGL games. This has changed though with the newer Catalyst versions, but you still see nVidia with a little lead(few FPS).

It could of just been the card, but I get like at least 10-20 more framerates on Americas Army with my Intergrated Geforce 4 with 128mb took out, than I did on my ATI Radeon 9550. It could of just been that card though, It might of had a defect in it, *Hence* I RMA'ed it last week, and it should be here soon. I will post the results in here, if it does it again. So AA possible could be another, but I kind of doubt it.

It's called viral marketing. Get use to it. :ohwell:

Nvidia can't win by making better GPU'S with better IQ, so they pay developers to do a little magic touch, and they are back in the game.

Basically most OpenGL games run (slightly) bettter with nVidia cards. Even though nVidia gets a few more FPS, I don't think it's worth sacrificing image quality for speed.

Wow...stupid Nvidia. Not too many games seem to bear an ATI logo. The only one I know of is Civilization 4, but I’m sure there are more.

Having the ATI logo doesn't mean it can run better on ATI cards mosto f the time

But it means it's been tested well with ATI, and is supported by it. Guild Wars series have the ATI logo.

Have Lionhead fixed the problem in Black & White 2 where ATI cards would get really low performance? If not, chalk another one up there

Same goes for nVidia tho -- look at Oblivion, etc. (at least I think Oblivion is a TWIMTBP game).

Also someone mentioned Unreal Tournament? If you're talking about ut2004 -- I was always under the impression that it runs slightly faster on ATI hardware, altho it may be sponsored by nv, I don't know. It certanly always ran great on the ati cards

I was talking about games that really play much worse on ATI cards than they do on equivalent Nvidia cards. Titan Quest actually works on low settings on my laptop which has a 64MB GeforceFXgo 5200, but is choppy on medium settings on my X800GTO@16pp!!!

Hmm Titian Quest runs great with my X1800GTO. As does Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey and UT2004. COD2 runs like dog shit and Ghost recon advanced warfighter runs crappy too.
