It wouldn't give me the option to run in Widescreen. My guess is you have to edit a config file or the short cut.

Wazzledoozle, how did you get yours to run in widescreen? I need to run at the same resolution as you 1440x900.

Also it ran great on High settings at 1280x960 on my GeForce 6800GS.

I can't wait until my "7900 GT KO 512mb" gets here next week.:rockout:

Now to answer my own question...

F.E.A.R. Combat Free Version - WIDESCREEN HACK

Start the game once. Create a profile, save and exit.

Now you can edit the config file.

My Computer > right mouse click > choose Explore > then go to
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Monolith Productions\FEARCombat

Vista
c:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Monolith Productions\FEARCombat
The file is named "settings.cfg" ,open it with notepad to edit.

If you go into the game and choose "Options\Display ... it will show up as 640x480 and then re-set it's self to this res. (Don't do this! Do the next option below!)

If you go into the game and choose
"Options\Performance\Advanced Video Card Options\Graphics ... it should show the 1440x1200 resolution there.

Replace any Resolution your monitor and video card can support and it should work great.

if you have an o/ced video card..for some reason fear gets really choppy maybe that will help your x850xt problem i have a x800gto and i get 52 frames on high settings for my cpu and gpu...when i o/ced my video card it cut down to 41..and the test was reallllll choppy

Please read your own link http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=2701&p=11. You've misunderstood the chart I think :o

What the graph shows is that 5.7 introduced a massive improvement for the 9700 over 5.5 (and basically fixed the damage done in 5.5), but the following drivers, 5.9, 5.11 and 6.1, ALSO improved the performance!!! = 1.015 x 0.998 x 1.000 = 1.013 :pimp:

And since we are now at 6.9, performance has probably increased even further. There's no need to use the old drivers anymore. Move on.

(Do a benchmark if you like and come back to prove me right or wrong :nutkick: )
