What gives? My average FPS in karkand is ~35 and when I record it goes down to <=13FPS... WTF its on all maxed settings... sheesh my x700pro did better xD

I'd be hard pressed if an x700 could do better... but there's obviously something wrong with your card. Is it new, and can you RMA it? How much RAM do you have? Also do you have AA and AF maxed out?

Cj_Staal
08-19-2006, 02:17 AM
I have all maxed settings, 256mb ram on the card and 2Gb ram for the mobo

08-19-2006, 06:33 AM
that would explain the low frame rates, lower your detail settings in the game to say ummm medium. you wont really notice the difference.

when you record? with what fraps??
that will kill your cpu and therefore your fps...

Cj_Staal
08-19-2006, 03:46 PM
A x850xt should be able to handle all maxed settings.

Oh when I record with fraps it goes down to 18FPS and below. Even when I am getting like 80FPS I record with fraps and it goes down to 18FPS, any tweaks I can do?

^I've never used Fraps to record and have it not lag.

actually i have a agp x850xtpe 2gb of ram and a 3700+ that don't run so well on bf2 also everything maxed besides dynamic i get min 35 fps at 1280x1024 with 6x,aa

as for games that support 1680x1050 the native resolution of my lcd such as fear i get bout 40-90 fps with all minimum settings besides textures and world/character details with 2x aa and af cause i rather have game at max res with lower settings then lo res with high settings because what good are nice textures, shadows and effects when there all jagy and pixelatedfrom your monitor stretching the picture to fit you screen so always use your native resolution of your monitor and always have run on sentences like this because its only the Internet

My old AGP X850XT used to handle BF2 (@ max settings) really well and that was with my old P4 3.2GHz Prescott installed!

I guess I'm bottlenecked then =/... well time for a conroe :D

Do you notice somethig here...EVERYONE I have seen or know who has an AGP version of an X800 or X850 performs better than the PCI-E version...A friend with an Athlon 2800+, 1.25GB DDR400 ram, AGP X850XTPE, and his sytem is THE BOMB. He NEVER EVER lags on battlefield 2, even when it's first started up...it's as smooth as silk...his computer is just AMAZING!! He runs all high 6AA 1280x1024, and not a single problem...

I mean...look at my specs, I have the PCI-E version of X850XT, and it sucks ass in Battlefield 2, but that's because I play with over 50 processes running, my operating system is corrupt, and I have only 1 GB of ram...plus the fact my CPU is shit...I can play 1280x1024 with ALL high settings okay-ISH after a solid half hour of play...then it'll be....meh....FAIRLY smooth, not great...

Your specs on the other hand are amazing, I can't believe you lag in BF2, let's face it, your CPU is better than mine, and if you ever wanna get rid of it, I'll take it off of your hands :D I always wanted to make an AMD system, I never had one before...If you wanna hear something embarrasing, my card works BETTER in a 1.8GHz AMD Sempron with 1.25GB of DDR400, If I knew of a board that I could put my old 2.8GHz 478 socket Pentium 4 in, that was cheap and had PCI-E, I would jump on it like a shot...because I could overclock it fairly high, and being a single core, it would own in BF2, way better than this shitty dual core Pentium D...

Just one more thing, what cooler have you got on your card, I happen to know the stock cooler is noisy and gay and crap, and doesn't ACTUALLY cool the GPU for shit...

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 01:03 PM
Yeah because ya know, the doubling in bandwidth means nothing...[/sarcasm]

Yeah I have the stock cooler. And yeah I know it sucks.

Casheti
08-21-2006, 01:04 PM
I can't help but say this, the AGP X800 and X850's ARE BETTER!!

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 01:08 PM
Alright, be a fanboy but numbers don't lie

Casheti
08-21-2006, 01:09 PM
I'm no fanboy, If I had to be a fanboy though, I would be a PCI-E fanboy if anything, but you tell me why the AGP X8*0's are performing better...?

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 01:14 PM
I say they aren't I say they are the same performance but the performance it gives on the AGP is better than whats expected of AGP's and the PCi-ex has performance that is lower than expected, but for pure numbers they equal.

Casheti
08-21-2006, 01:17 PM
Meh, okay then, I agree with that, I suppose

Ketxxx
08-21-2006, 01:41 PM
Tone down AA\AF, if your running something rediculous like 6xAA 16xAF no wonder its slow as allhell, do you know how much work it takes for the GPU to process those kinds of AA levels? Turn it down to 4x\2x and it will do MUCH better.

Casheti
08-21-2006, 01:42 PM
How come my friend with the X800XTPE can do it??

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 02:14 PM
Casheti just give up

Frick
08-21-2006, 02:26 PM
EDIT: I don't believe Casheti. Not gonna happen. Maybe @ 800*600, but not in any "nice" resolutions. ;)

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 02:35 PM
This is why I suspect him of being RPG =/ but like alot of other ppl said, he prob isnt.

Casheti
08-21-2006, 02:47 PM
Hey Frick, you're a dumbass...cos it's true...

As for CJ, WTF??

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 02:49 PM
You stand by your word when it's obviously wrong and everyone says its wrong. But yeah just meh I suspect alot of people being RPG for saying stupid shit

Casheti
08-21-2006, 02:50 PM
Hmm...apart from the fact that it's not wrong. Just because your tiny little brain doesn't believe it, doesn't mean it's not true...

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 02:54 PM
and now you resort to petty little insults. Numbers don't lie Casheti.

to the OP.

did you remove all old drivers using driver cleaner and install new drivers when you switched vga's?

Frick

Hmm...apart from the fact that it's not wrong. Just because your tiny little brain doesn't believe it, doesn't mean it's not true...

I'll be happy to believe it if you provide some screens. But I don't think there's any way you can max out EVERYTHING, including AA/AF, and have playable framerates. Oh, BTW, resolutions?

bigboi86
08-21-2006, 04:18 PM
STFU Casheti...

Anyways, something must be setup wrong or your system is unstable, I dunno...

I play 4xAA and everything maxed out on BF2 @ 1280x1024 res no problem. Your system should too.

I bet I know why you got low framerates, what do you have your forced settings as in the control panel? You should turn it all to "Application Controlled", then go into whatever games and apply the settings in there.

Usually works better that way for me...

But if you're trying to force 6xAA and 16x AF bf2 probably don't like that... in the menu I only see 4x AA anyways, maybe it doesn't like 6x being forced.

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 04:22 PM
I have it all set to "application controlled" but 6xAA is an option in the game for AntiAliasing levels. But I should try it to see how it works at 4x or 2x I'm sure I wouldn't see a difference at 4x but maybe at 2x I know when it's turned off I'm like woah, this sucks.

Casheti
08-21-2006, 04:27 PM
Well...how do I make 16AF if I can't force it?? There aren't any AF options in game...

Casheti
08-21-2006, 04:28 PM
I had to turn it down to

1280x1024, Terrain and Textures High, everything else Medium, AA 4X, runs good...but I KNOW I can max it out, just my system won't let me jack it up without lagging me to hell...

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 04:28 PM
we werent talking to you and no I dont have any forcing.... sheet casheti this isn't the thread to ask how to use AF

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 04:29 PM
.but I KNOW I can max it out, just my system won't let me

infrared
08-21-2006, 04:31 PM
yeah, my x850xt handles bf2 quite happily at 6xAA @ 1280x1024. All settings maxed

btw on the new patches on bf2 it allows 6x in the menu :) ...finally :D

EDIT: hmm, i seem to have replied to page 1 :p

btw, will you two stop arguing! giving me a headache!

Casheti
08-21-2006, 04:32 PM
My system is gay...

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 04:33 PM
Yeah but what you said makes no sense "but I KNOW I can max it out, just my system won't let me jack it up without lagging me to hell.." Doesn't that mean it can't handle it?

Casheti
08-21-2006, 04:35 PM
No, it means I can handle it, but it's not letting me...my OS is corrupt anyway...plus I have over 55 processes running when I play BF2, and that's not to do with my hardware, is it?? So basically, I need a format before my BF2 performance can progress any further...

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 04:36 PM
It CANT handle it if your getting laggy.... sheeeeeshhhhhhhh

Look I'm Casheti and edit my posts after someone replies to it to make them seem "smaller" than I

Are you stupid or something, READ MY POST

infrared
08-21-2006, 04:38 PM
stop using 1 gig of ram and you'll be fine Casheti ;) LOL

2gigs are needed to play bf2 properly

STFU sheesh you tell me to go back and read your post after you edit it.... rofl dude you are SOOOO RPG

Lol...okay, but what's up with my mate and his 1.25GB..that works fine...:D

Casheti
08-21-2006, 04:40 PM
Maybe his computer is MAGIC!! Did I mention, it's not even custom built, it's a mesh...

Frick
08-21-2006, 04:41 PM
yeah, my x850xt handles bf2 quite happily at 6xAA @ 1280x1024. All settings maxed

Crossfire, right?

Anyway Casheti. Can't you turn off everything before you launch the game? Everything that's not vital, that is.. It should help, escpecially if you "only" have 1GB RAM.

EDIT: Heh. A mesh-computer should be really cool. ;)

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 04:41 PM
Maybe his computer is MAGIC!! Did I mention, it's not even custom built, it's a mesh...

Don't get a attitude in here, Casheti. I'll kick your ass and make you suck my E-penis :D

Ha! An x850XT isn't a very b*i*g E-penis. :p:cool:

Cj_Staal
08-21-2006, 04:45 PM
No, but in general I am. :D

infrared
08-21-2006, 06:32 PM
Crossfire, right?

Nope, i meant running on only 1 x850xt i could run bf2 @ 1280x1024, 6x AA no probs at all. :)

For a long time i was running on one card before i got a second for crossfire. Technically speaking it wasn't even an x850, it was an x800gto2 that i'd modified. 8k 3dmark05 :D

08-21-2006, 08:22 PM
I didn't read through this entire post but I would suggest turning off all dynamic lighting effects anyhow. Especially those that create shadows. Believe me you don't want shadows!

Turn off anything that you don't use, make sure if you have a firewall all ports are open that BF2 needs, TOTALLY disable all anti virus stuff... other than that maybe lower to something less that 1440??
