I just wanted to start a thread that truly points out why we are all here, and that's because of the awesome modability and customization possible through PCs. Consoles are fun every once in a while, but I don't think most anybody with a computer could live with a computer.

Even at gaming, PCs rule. let's hear your story/ pov

plus i wanted to create a thread without competition that we could all band together on :-)

PC games are always cheaper, almost always have more cheats, always look better, cost nothing to play online in most cases, and the games are so much easier to mod. On top of all that, keyboard & mouse > controller for everything except racing/flying/driving games.

i like this one alot

they say 360 in HD

we say AMD sixty four thirtytwo hundred plus at two point six gigahertz with two times five twelve DDR ram in dual channel at two hundred ten megahertz with two two hundred fifty gigabyte SATA two drives in raid zero and an x eight hundred gto squared unlocked to sixteen pixel pipelines at five hundred eighty three core six twenty nine mem, and i game at sixteen hundred by twelve hundred when i can push it.

and they say, oh ya? well my mom bought me my 360, so there

lol

all console gamers should just get the words pwnd tattooed on their foreheads

Mustang- The only reason I even own a console is due to what is in your avatar. Twilight Princess.

hang on, i have a 360 and a pc, both machines are great. there are some games that just wouldnt work in the pc as well as a console and vice verse.

PC rule on the technology front, as PC gamers will be able to get there hands on the lastest gear first, but at a price. pc gaming is a pricy hobby for anyone, so console gaming opens the market more.

verdict
PC's will have killer hardware first, and will always lead the way for console gaming

Different machines, different puropses. I love PC's for the tinker reason. I can do pretty much anything I want with my PC.

I love consoles for the console reason. There's plenty of great games for console that just don't do on a PC. Like the X-Men fighting games. I like them, but they're unplayable on a PC.

I mainly play pc games, but console games are fun on their own way:
You can play games like Super Smash Brothers or Mario Kart, theyre always fun and dont need extreme graphics.

I am curious as to why some games are unplayable on a pc? you can get gamepads. you can even plug the darn thing into a tv if you want to have lower resolution. I agree consoles have their place, but PCs rock! I just wish miyamoto would put out some zelda games for pc that game with controller. I would pay 75$ for a new zelda game, no question.

as far as smash is concerned, it's awesome. I've played 3 person smash64 on my pc tho (i only had 3 usb ports on my laptop :( ) on a bus and that was pretty f'in sweet. (I have n64 controllers hooked up via adaptoids. i want the same thing for gc, esp cuz i have a bunch of wavebirds)

i'm not saying anything other than I like pc's more than consoles, and if i could only game on one for the rest of my life, pc hands down

plus, i don't think there's much of a price difference anymore. check my sig where it says mine! and then check out my budget build. I could have built cheaper, but for around 650$ (I def could have gone under 600) I get a machine which is tons better than the 400$ x360, and my games don't cost 60$, i have tons of free games online (more than live) and I can pwn with a keyboard and mouse if i want, or get the funtimes of a gamepad

PCs just rule!

i used to run my old PS2 video through my ati tv card, the graphics looked way better than through a tv screen.

pre emptive congrats on 500 posts!

and how did you do that? did you get rf modulator or something? by better graphics do you mean higher res or just image quality? i'd be down for trying, esp because i need more reasons to finally buy a tv tuner

just because you can pop in a dvd doesn't mean you get it that way, or is there some other way i'm unaware of?

True, but I still prefer a console fighting game sitting in a couch with a few buddies and some beer. Insert cartridge/disc and voila! You're on! There's also the problem of bad ports from console > PC..

PC games always lead the industry in innovation and new technology.

PC games are easier to make and allow for more experimentation and freedom because of the lack of limitations of a concrete set of system specs a console has.

Also, PC developers are often not as pressed and crammed for time into making a game, this open schedule allows for more experimentation and bug fixing.

Console developers are often contracted on tight deadlines from big movie studios or something of that nature, it is not necessarily their goal to make something great, but rather to make great money.

So, you're saying that most of the games realeased for consoles are licensed movie-games (or whatever you call it)? How interesting. :P

that's just an example

the whole point he's trying to make (what I heard at least :p) was that you start developing a pc game now, and it finishes in 10 years, the newest pc's will be running it

you do that with a console, and it won't happen. the pc lifetime is not foreseeable to end, whereas a consoles will.

basically, there is always time constraints on console developers from the hardware perspective, whereas there is no hardware time constraints (or any other hardware constraints) on pc gaming

oh, plus i just remember something about price wars:

my pc was 650$. and xbox 360 is 399$. oh yea, mine included a monitor. how much was the tv that is bought to watch the 360?

i guess someone could just download a playstation 2 emulator and play the games on a pc, i have used one before.

YOu have a point there. But then old console games last waaay longer than old PC games. Like NES. There's no way you can say Mario is uncool, but the first Duke Nukem-games are pretty much unplayable on todays 1290*960 WD-screens. IMO, of course. ;)

Another thing is that it must be more difficult to create games for PC's. Then you must take several different systems into the calculation, low-end gamers and so on.. When you create a game for a specific console you don't have to give a rats ass about the hardware. You know what you're dealing with.

Personal Computers are just more versatile, hands-down, & no questions asked...

(Even though most of today's gaming consoles are REALLY pc's imo @ least, internally).

It is the SAME REASON I prefer PCs over midrange & mainframe stuff I had worked on over time in the past, etc. (versatility as well as ubiquity of function).

Consoles are good for young children as PC's can be too complicated but no future console will be able to stand up against a good PC. The only way consoles could even compete is if they were also upgradable (ie you could put an updated CPU in your 360 when it becomes dated) but then it would basically become another variation of a PC.

pcs do kick the consoles asses but not in all games. some games were only release for console.. performance-wise, pcs will always be the best, due ti the fact that you can always upgrade parts.

WIth PC's you can get mods and patches (unlike PS2 :() and there are free games also

I like computers over consoles for many reasons... Them being (short list).

Customize, my computer is fully customized within the case and within the desktop
Shooting games are just far better with mouse/keyboard combo defently not with those controllers
More powerful than consoles >__>
You can do more with computers then games, Music/Videos/Internet surfing/Im'ing....porn? lol..

I know this is a computer form and all of our opinions would be biased but eh COMPS RULE!
