Ok, my friend has had a lot of trouble out of his computer lately, so he reformated his harddrive. He goes to start up the computer and it tells him that Windows-32-config-system is missing. He can't even start up his computer, it gets to there and freezes. and can't get to safe more of anything. He took that hard drive out just for the time being to see if he could get the computer to work, and when he tried to start up the computer, it does the same thing? Does anybody have any suggestion on how to fix this...Any help would be appreciated. ;)

well no matter what he can't install windows at all. He can't get to the desktop screen. and he don't even have a windows install disk, he has the emachines recovery disk that u put in, and when it boots up u press "R" and it gives you the option to recover, or destuctive, meaining taking everything off and it reinstalls windows with that disk of course. But he tried that, and it won't finish recovering.

What version of windows?

Check in the BIOS to make sure it is set to boot from CD, put your windows CD in (or recovery disk or equivalent) and try starting it. It sounds like it's not even looking for CD-ROM boot.
