I don't think you'll find a 2800+ for 20$ unless someone HERE offers you a great deal for one, sry m8 :(

it will be very rare to find a cpu that cheap that is still being carried, and probably no you wont find any xps for that price unless you get it second hand. you should have taken some of the led money and put it toward a cpu. having a sweet mod is worthless if it isnt even a complete pc.

i can just switch mb with one of my other pcs to get it working if need be, but id really like to get this chip or one like that. as well the leds only cost 14 bucks with delivery
i also dont mind second hand as long as it works
Update.
Here is a few pictures of what ive got done now. This is the first coat of red above the silver primer

This is the first time i have ever spray painted anything so i did the hidden parts first which was a good thing as i figured out howto do it by mistakes :p . should i sand down the few bits that ran, and this is the first coat so u can still see some of the silver undercoat. anyone have any ideas for the project?

I have a friend that's trying to sell his old system. Athlon XP 2600+ (mobile barton), 1gb dual channel, 9800 Pro, 40gb IDE. He's asking $150 for the whole system. I don't believe he's willing to part out the system though.

Well, like I said, I don't believe he's willing to part out the system. But I'll mention that you're willing to offer $35 shipped for the CPU.
Edit: Yeah, he wants to sell the system as a whole. So, no go on the $35 for the chip.

You can try ebay, but the socket A's are hard to find for that cheap.
Back to the LED question, I am not sure how they are wired, but you simply wire them in series, simple.

buy plenty of spray paint and put it on thick, also clear coat it when done to help prevent agianst scratches... also cut holes in your mobo tray to help hide wires.
