View Full Version : crossfire x 1600xt

I am running one x1600xt core clock is 589mghtz and ram speed is 1380 mghtz. What i want to know is it worth it to buy another x1600xt and set it up in crossfitre mode. What will i gain from it if i do it. Dont want to spend 115. if it isnt going to make much of a difference. Thanks guys for any information you can give me also id like facts and not just thoughs on it.

you can see how a x1600 CF setup compares to other G.cards at Tomshardware vga charts. I just checked and they do have radeon x1600 xt CF listed as one of the many setups.

So in your thoughts is it worth it. I play diablo 2 and halo and farcry. I dont tweak them at all and leave everything at defaults. My monitior is a benq fp931.

well i dont think it would hurt but are the advantages worth 115. more. Is it going to make that big a difference from what i could see at toms hardware didnt seem like hardly any difference at all.

Kind of off topic but still, doesn't Diablo II actually look best on old 3dfx cards since the game was originally optimized for it? Of course, it is a 2D game and a monster x1950XTX would play it about as well as a X1300 today, but still.

It also depends on the rest of your system. IMO, I would hold on to the 115 and save up some more if you can and pick up an x1800xt. newegg has had opened box versions recently for 180-185, if you're ok with that type. TH's charts show it stronger than x1600 CF. they seem to go quick at newegg so you would need to check often. you could maybe ebay the current x1600 to help make up the delta. and maybe the prices will drop more if dx10 gcards really come out still this year.

ty professor and yes thats true but i run a server on halo at times and am playing farcry more and more. and gbhans i wouldnt buy an open box from new egg i like the idea of the warranty. So would have to be new and i agree i can ebay the x1600xt on ebay and make up the difference. I never have liked the heat the x1600 puts out. Thank you for the ideas i think i will not go cf with the 1600 and go another route.
