Anyone know where I can get a replacment fan (and just the fan) for the GeCube X800 XL heat sink assembly? It has 3 unique plastic extensions for mounting to the heatsink.

My alternative is if someone can point me to a similar performance/form-factor fan that I can MacGyver into the assembly.

Someone know the MAX rpm and/or max cubic foot air displacement of the GeCube X800 XL fan?

I'm hoping to replace the fan, but if I have to, I suppose I could also replace the entire fan/heat-sink assembly with an Arctic product like the ATI AT5 unit. What a waste. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835186129

honestly, i would just go with the Arctic Cooling 5 rev2, it will out-perform the stock cooler and its only $20. i bought mine for $30 a few months ago.

Thanks for the input. I may end up doing that, but I'd like to try to hold-off using the Arctic as long as possible. Because of its combination heatpipe/heatsink design, the GeCube card is incredibly quiet compared to other vid cards. I'm concerned the Arctic would be much louder. At the moment, the GeCube fan has to run at 70% of rated speed before you start hearing it over the system fan. Most of the time I run it at a custom profile, and that keeps it to a low 46%, with the temp only getting up to 50C. Can't hear it at all and the GPU is kept safe.

im not exactly sure of the decibal levels of the Arctic Cooling gpu cooler, but you might want to check that out and compare it to your stock cooler dB level. i know AC is known for its quiet coolers (hence the name AC "Silencer") Good luck

I say go for the Arctic. You don't know what hear when you smack on one of those.
It cools exelent and makes nearly any noise.
Very much worth the money.

But if you realy don't want to buy one, i got a fan for you. Comes of a X800Xl
It's only the fan. i don't have the mounting bracket anymore. You can push your old fan of the mounting bracket and place this one. It still works. The only thing you need to do is solder your own wires including conector. Very simpel.
You can have it if you wan't.

I was finally able to come to a good stopping point, and measure the current noisy fan. It was surprising as I expected a mm sized fan, but it's apparently spec'd in inches.

Anyway, the diameter of the circle described by the outer tips of the rotating blades (doesn't include the housing) is 2.50 inches (63.5mm) The blades themselves are a bit less than 1cm deep, but the way the card is designed anything from about 7mm to 15mm would probably work ok performance-wise.

Arctic Cooling Silencer is better, and really quiet, and best of all, exhausts air to the rear.

vf900, best

vf900 or silencer

silencer is much cheaper too

either will work well.

When you say "...exhausts air to the rear" are you saying it exhausts the air out of an adjacent card-slot port at the rear of the machine?

One of the things I like about the GeCube X800XL is that it is a true 1-card form-factor. It doesn't take up 2 slot positions. A number of video cards take up 2 slots because the cooling assembly requires the extra space. If I had a major over-heating problem I'd definitely consider "eating a slot" and exhausting out a card slot at the rear of the machine, but so far, overheating isn't a major issue.

By "exhausts out of rear", he means that it blows the air clean out the back of the case, assuming you remember to install the PCI vent :p. And you can turn ATISilencer5 as high as you want, you won't hear it AT ALL, unless you're ATISilencer5 is defective, in which case Arctic Cooling will be more then happy to replace it. Basically, the thing is gigantic, you won't have to worry about cooling your video card for a long time.

I'm still interested in the fan...sent a PM to you.
