I need some slight help (or advice) from those of you who can overclock greatly with Athlon 64s.

Currently, I have:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice) @ 2.67Ghz (267x10) at 1.525v.
GeIL Ultra Platinum DDR 400 @ 222Mhz 2.5-3-3-6 at 3.4v.
DFI LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D (All Chipsets at stock voltage)

Everything else shouldn't matter.

So, how far should I increase the voltage on the A64? I'm not testing my RAM right now, just checking how high my CPU can go so I can get the best combination when I find the max of both. At the settings above, I get 45 load, and around 33-35 idle. Should I push it to 1.5v or 1.6v? Also, will increasing the NB or HTT voltage increase performance/overclockability even though I'm only at 267HTT?

My RAM, can probably handle 3.5v-3.6v (since CH-5 requires that much I believe). When I plan on overclocking the RAM, I'll see how far I can go. I don't want to do RAM now because if I find the max of both, I'm going to have to find the best combination (which will require going to x7 or x8 multi and 300+ HTT w/ more dividers).

So, please give any advice in overclocking this. I'm aiming for 2.8Ghz at least (maybe 2.9 in the Winter). Ketxxx, I really want you to help me out on this.;)

for voltage i would go no further than 1.6 especially with air cooling, you can try it but it'll drastically reduce the chips life

simply bang in a 100mhz ram divider and crank the fsb, thats the easy way to do it ;) dont go above 1.62v max, preferably keep it around 1.55 - 1.57v

i have 2.6ghz running at stock voltage. as ketxxx said drop that ram divider and take it up. that big typhoon should keep things cool.

stock voltage....dude u HAVE to raise vcore and see how far it will go :D

My 3200+ is the 1.4v stock version, not the 1.35v. And it requires a lot of voltage for some reason. I can get it only to 2.4Ghz max at stock. I'll try it around 1.6 @ 2.8Ghz hopefully. And the RAM is fine there, not really holding back, but I can put a bigger divider to see how far this 3200+ will go.

hmm....that seems weak for a venice even if its not the greatest clocker, you using the latest dfi bios?

Lates "Official" BIOS. I can try ones specifically for CH-5, and my memory is on orange, not yellow so that's holding back too.

I'm not really trying, just upping slowly because I need it for school, and I don't want to keep clearing CMOS, so I can probably get 2.67Ghz stable at a lower voltage, but to make sure I'm staying high so I don't have to clear CMOS. But this weekend, hard core overclocking.

deffinately aim for 2.7ghz and switch to yellow dimm slots, latest official bios is pretty good. i wouldnt bother with modded bioses for ch5 as their all based on pretty old builds (around 510-2fix era)

I can hit 2.7 for sure, I'm at 2.67, lol, 30Mhz. But yeah I can hit it. But I really need to spend time on this, making sure I'm not putting extra voltage that I don't need.

venice are pretty resistent, 1.6v isnt an issue for them really with good cooling.

Yeah, but I can run lower voltage and still be stable, but I have to put time into it.

Hey guys well I have an athlon 64 3200(Venice) and i have it over clocked to 2.66ghz..With a gig stick of 266 Kinston value ram with latency of 2-3-3-6.... I’m getting a gig kit of ballistix(2-512) at 400mhz any moment now.. In theory, what is the max overclock I should be able to get out of it? I have an after market heat sink/fan, the Asus silent square.. And adequate case ventilation

My rig is:
ASUS A8N-SLI- DELUXE
AMD ATHLON 64 3200(VENICE)
ASUS SILENT SQUARE HEATSINK/FAN
CRUCIAL BALLISTIX BL2KIT6464Z402
480W POWER SUPPLY
