I have recently bought a connect3d ati x1800 xt. I hav installed ati catalyst 6.8 and atitool 0.25 beta 14. my default clock are 599/702. but some reason they just change to 475/693? does anyone know why its doing this and how to stop it?

Welcome to ATI tool, theres a few threads about this already up in the ATI Tool forum. I'd suggest staying away from ATI Tool until they stabalize it with the X1000 series cards. Check over at the ATI Tool forum and read the threads.

ATITool works by dissabling the 3d profile, and overclocking from the 2D clockspeeds, 475/693 are the '2d' clocks of your card, which are set automatically while your not playing a game anyway.

no actually this is a problem i had with mine when i installed ati tool after enabling overdrive in ccc. uninstall ati tool, then uninstall the video drivers, then install new catalysts don't enable overdrive. install ati tool and monitor the card through that.
600/700 are his cards 2d clocks as are mine, 475 is an anomaly. lol
625/750 are the 3d clocks.

No
just disable the hotkey service from ati and reboot, from that on you can change frequencies as you like
