Intel has officially decided to scrap the Pentium D 805, and will stop taking orders for it after February 9 2007. The Pentium D 805 series was introduced in July of this year, and was designed for budget dual core systems. It was the only Pentium D to run with a Front Side Bus speed of 533MHz, as opposed to the 800MHz speed of all the other Pentium D's. With dual core Celerons, as well as low-end Core 2 Duo processors on the way from Intel, there really is no need for the Pentium D 805 in the future.

That's only natural but that 20x multi will be missed :( No kidding... hopefully the E4600 will make up for it.

Yea, especially by Tigger69, lol...
:)
He gave me outright "HELL" in our competition's on benchmarks... but, he's after an INTEL CONROE series CPU now, afaik.
(Fastest Pentium D series CPU I ever saw (but, I am NOT 110% sure that is the exact model he uses personally though)).

P.S.=> "Whoops!", edit - Tigger's is NOT that type, it is Pentium D 930... sorry! Besides: "It's the thought that counts"... apk

Well, this processor certainly will be missed. Looks like the days of the $90 4GHz Dual Core processor are soon to be over. Oh, well...At least I have the Dual Core Celerons to look forward to! :respect:

yeah for dual core celerons can you say highest clocked conroe based cpu :D

I for one won't be missing the 20x multiplier... i'd like to get to an almost decent fsb before the chip craps out =/ I think i managed just over 800mhz fsb when the chip was almost maxed...
2x Prescott cores = Extreme heat! Even under my watercooling i couldn't get the load temp below 45c which is riddiculous.

lol poor infared think those celerons will have the same 6,7,8x multi? as the conroe/allendales

Don't know why but my Pentium D930 idles at 21º at 3.7Ghz on stock cooling(65nm perhaps?)

yeah, the 805 was borowed from my dad's work putah just to try it. Thankfully i had my Faithful P4 ready to go back in the board when i was finished :p
And soon to have an E6400!!!!!!! :D
And yeah, your 930 would be pretty good. They're based on 2x Cedar Mill cores that make up the 'presler'. It generates less heat, consumes less power and overclocks much better. Same applies for all 9x0 series.

i think it was the IHS on it. Bad contact perhaps.
The motherboard is spot on with my P4, and Asus are rarely far out anyway.

Temps were never a problem with my 805 it was trying to clock it past 2.8 anyway it was the boards fualt still have them both and i'm running an 840@3.44 ghz and about 41c with no issues

240mhz thats all you got outta your 840 :O wow canutu u using coretemp for your temps?

Ok i'm relieved, someone with the same temps as me :)
Isn't Core temp just for Conroes and Athlons?

not bad. I managed 4.4ghz on my 805, but temps and voltages were high, and my PSU was struggling :twitch: (Thermaltake 680w) and the radiator had turned into a industrial heater!

240mhz thats all you got outta your 840 :O wow canutu u using coretemp for your temps?only had this board up and running about a week and a half cooling is an issue with the side off its ok but with it on the 4 hard drives are getting about 110f or so haveing to rethink my fans. noticed tonight I can mount a 120 cm fan on the hard drive rack and it will push out the front of the case so will see where that goes. i'v had it 3.6 but backed it off so.........................
