Well, I'm kinda getting tired of Windows, and I usually have to keep (calling Microsoft) and re-activating my XP Key since I re-install quite a bit. So...I'm getting tired of it, and is there a Noob-Friendly Linux? This will be my first time *yay* and I don't want to mess things up, or end up going back to XP Pro.
Will Linux play my games as well?
Games:
Steam (DoD:S, CS:S)
TES IV: Oblivion
Company of Heroes
Call of Duty 2
Guild Wars
City of Heroes
UT2004
Far Cry
And, will my stuff work easily w/ it? I have a D-Link wireless router (for Media Center comp) and I've been reading about problems w/ D-Link and Linux. Any other problems that I should be aware of also? Like what Linux is/isn't compatible with?

windows is alot more "user friendly" your best bet is to check out a live cd of gentoo or ubuntu and see if u like it,and if you do both have a installer on the cd or dvd,i personally stick to xp

ReactOS is supposed to be a good windows emulator. I have a disc with gentoo and reactos on it, but I have never switched to it. I have certainly thought about it though.

Last time I tried ReactOS it wasn't exactly stable or compatible yet.

Is there Noob free linux?, not really.
It all depends how good you are at reading and using Google.
You do have to have half a clue about things to use linux.
Ubuntu would be the best linux for you.

No !.
Its more fun getting games working that playing them under Linux!!!
UT2k4 works. Quake 1 2 3 and I think 4 works. Doom 3 works. As for any other games you either have to install and emulate windows or find a hacked recompiled exe. Which is hard because most new games are written in Direct X 9 ( which sucks) there is no really way to get them working really well. Because the direct X 9 API is hard to emulate.
Some open GL games will work it all depends.

Do u use ether net for your router? If so it “should” work fine.
I don’t use D-link anymore. Net Gear all the way! D-link had to many issues with working properly full stop! (Eg I couldn’t forwards and open more than 30 port ranges)
Any other problems that I should be aware of also? Like what Linux is/isn't compatible with?
The file system is completey different!
Its hard to get games to work or find linux games!
Linux is perfect if you only word process and use the net
I use it on my linux box + I use it for dedicated servers for games !

You wont like it, yes it can play all of those games, but it can take a lot of work.

"Should you move to Linux"....?
Well, give it a go, see how it feels & what-not, & then after a month or two of giving it a FAIR SHAKE/TRY?
Decide then...
:)
* It doesn't hurt to try new things, even if it is only to say "I tried it & here was my verdict" etc. & to learn...
APK
P.S.=> I've done the same myself, since Slackware 1.02 iirc, around 1993-1994 iirc, & various builds here/there over time... & I've always come back to Windows, but Linux isn't bad @ all & generally works well for many things too... & I like "KDE"! apk
