I just spent 480 on a new video card, 400 on a new monitor, 80 on a HDD, and 90 on a new keyboard and mouse. Ohh and 45 bucks on shipping for RMA's. I basically spent all the money I've earned in the past two months. I don't think I'll be spending anymore for a while... :D
I never use to spend that much... But as you said little geek, taking a job into consideration tends to give you the opportunity to spend more.

Well, you see, I play the upgrade game. I wait until I find a good bargin and then I spend a chunk of cash, then I will buy something else in a few months and sell my old hardware, so each upgrade only costs me 40-50 bucks. Maybe $200 a year.

Friggin right he deserves more than a broken arm aswell, he should concider himself lucky to not have a totally broken face aswell, did you get his computing arm lol.
Oh and I been into buying computer stuff for 2 years now, so including this comupter I bought, 3games 200dvds, I would say I spent 3-4 grand, and I buy most things on sale besides the computer itself and I got ripped on a 512 stick of ram for 90$.

Anyway, I don't spend that much.. Since my first computer-related bargain (7 years ago) I've spent like .. $2000. That's like $24/month. Pretty accurate, I think.

Once every 4 years on average, I will put out up to $2500 for an "absolutely state-of-the-art" machine (or, as close as I can afford to come to doing that)...
Then, in the intervening timeframe (in that 4 yr. period) I would say I put in about $100-$150 U.S. Dollars a year into said machine for various parts (usually updates/upgrades), so roughly another $400/$500 U.S. dollars & usually for a MAJOR part (usually a better videocard).
So I guess, when ALL is "said & done"? On average, probably $775 a year... about what folks payout for those "HP $500 home use systems" when all is said & done, BUT, I get a system FAR in advance of those, performance-wise.

I've made a life-plan for you: You upgrade your PC to a mean machine. Then you save tons of money and when you graduate (or whatever you do in the UK :p) you travel. A lot. But then, I much rather spend cash on travels than computers. ;)

I just wasted $900 or so on CPU+RAM+mobo, still need a videocard as well. Then agian I don't plan to upgrade the mobo for 3 years or so. I will however upgrade CPU in half a year or so.

I haven't spent too much on my PC this year, it'd probably add up to like $400-$500. This is because I didn't buy any actual hardware this year, it was around this time last year that I built this system. That cost me a pretty penny:
CPU: $189
Mobo: $115
RAM: $315
GPU: $700
THat's about all I got then, the rest of the system I already had.

I buy a new system about every two years for the past 25 years or so, prices ranged from $199 to $1200. Spend about another $800 to $1000 on accessories, cables, peripherals, compenents, memory Etc. Do a lot of trading with the locals, and donate a lot of parts, repaire time, etc to local schools. Poor Kids these days aer still running Windows 3.1 and 95 in HIGH SCHOOL!!! Damn politicians!!!

This year 400+.I bought a x2 4200 and an x800xl and a cool drive 4. I think that amount is also good for last year too a xp3200 plus some corsair 512's then a 64 bit xp3200 and a mobo. Some of my friends think I spend too much on this PC, but their socket A comp is down as they search for a 300w psu (used of course). During the last 3 weeks, I had to spend 250 on my quad. A new flywheel 125, a new CDI 100 and change, and a coil (used) 25 If it's not one thing it's another!!!!!!!!!

Well on Saturday I spent £200 on new stuff for my PC. As well as £110 on memory this morning (arriving in 2 days ^_^).
A few weeks ago I paid £20 for my new CPU, as well as £130 for my 1950XT (although it was a present so it doesn't really count).
A few months ago I got a new case for £60.
In a few weeks I intend to spend about £150 on a new monitor :)

Well for me it is hard to calculate. I will buy a component, use it for a while and sell it on Ebay,
at times, I will sell an item for more than I paid for it.(gotta LUV Ebay!!)I then use the revinue from the sale for my new upgrade. In the end I would guess,....around 100 to 200 dollars a year.

bought in 2007:
-wd raptor 74gb
-20inch widescreen, samsung 205bw
-new server, amd 5600+ 2gb ram, new case
-badass watercooling w00t
-yesterday i bought a 40inch LCD-TV, to watch tv, and connect to my pimprig.
so i think i bought for around 1500 euro.
In september i bought a conroe upgrade, which was around 1000 euro.
I waste 1000 euro per year on my main pimprig. And maybe 100 euro on my server. Once in 2 years a new laptop, just sold my old one.

Ummmm not nearly enough. Actually this year-nothing :o. Something about laptops and their upgradability. Anyways, I don't expect to be spending much on pcs, kinda getting ready for the insurance hit when I can drive. :banghead:

About $4k Canadian.
Bought my system in September 06 - $3k right there (conroe was new, 1950xtx just came out etc.) but I figured I deserved it - my old pc was a PII 233Mhz from 1998 with a 14" CRT from the early '90's so a slight upgrade was in order.:)
Since then, added X-fi, CNPS9700, TR HR-03, HD595 'phones, 2nd HDD, TT side panel w/250mm fan, fan controller, OCZ memory cooler etc etc etc. I spent about $100 per month after the initial system.
I think I'm done for a while though. Will probably wait until next year to move to Vista (once SP1 comes out) and get a gen2 or 3 DX10 VGA card.
