Just got a X800 GTO AGP card and now the weak link is my aging xp1800 CPU. Looking for a quality, budget ($100 or less) AGP compatible mobo for the AMD 939 3700-San Diego. Any Help Greatly Appreciated.:respect:

Are you looking to OC at all.
If not ASRock and ECS arent bad brands.
They just dont offer a lot of OCing.

I like to do a bit of OC'ing - but the first priority is an AGP slot

I agree if you want to OC look for a cheap Asus since they tend to OC better than the ASRocks and ECS boards. Those 2 are good for stable and reliable boards. If you have newegg.com that will ship to you might as well use them since they usually have one of the cheapest prices.

I had the dual sataII which is practically the same thing as that ^
It's a great board cuz u got the opportunity to upgrade to pcie later, and she's not a bad ocer either. She's gota 1.45vcore max but not to bad for the price. Got my 3200 venice to 2.5 easy

I clicked on the link that Protius supplied-I believe the "ASRock 939Dual-VSTA Socket 939 ULi M1695" is the board I will get. It doesn't sound like it's a great OC'er,but it is upgradable, and more importantly- still available for purchase.

I've been reading alot of reviews for the AsRock board and get the impression that they're kinda on the questionable list as far as reliability. I have always prefered MSI but will go for any reputable brand--looking for specific brand model #'s - MUST HAVE AGP. Any links appreciated---

What kind of reviews...Is it ones on Newegg and Tigerdirect, bc half of those people dont know what they are talking about.
As for reviews, their boards arent rated the highest possible b/c of their OC ability.
However, I have heard many reviews and people saying that they are good stable boards.
They may not offer the bling that others boards do, but they were never meant to.
They were meant to be cheap and reliable.

Id get the Asrock Dual Vsta, people have problems with it but fact is everyone has some problems when setting up mobos based on their inexperience.

The AsRock Dual Vsta Has the Future Slot that will allow you to upgrade to a AM2 processor in the future w/ the future slot board (And those processors continue to get faster)

And I believe its one of the only boards to have Full X16 pci-e and Full X8 AGP.

I have a Asrock dual sata2 its almost the same board as the vsta and its rock solid. I normally wouldn't buy a Asrock board but both the vst and the dual which are basically the same board have won almost every award for the bang for the buck catigory and believe it or not quality. It also has a true agpx8 slot and a true Pci express x16 slot. Read this review on the dual it and the vst are so similar they use the same bios updates. This will gives you an idea how good it will run. Mine overclocked my 3800x2 to a 4600x2 or a 400 mghz increase at a ram timing of 2-3-2-5 -1t with stock voltage. Which I think for a a inexspensive board is great. That saved me around 150.00 in cpu cost at the time. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASRock/939Dual-SATA2

No way Msi Has a mutch better track record than Asrock. Asrock in the case of the Vsta and Dual ,however , made a great products for once. Msi consistantly make good produces. Asrock sadly doesn't

The best motherboard and in some cases video card companies are Asus, Abit ,Msi ,Dfi, and thats not in any certain order. However, Asrock is a division of Asus, and as sutch limited the Dual and Vsta to moderate overclocking to sell there highend motherboards because the Dual and Vst could have been overclocking monsters, with there voltage controls left intact, and can be still with volt mods. This should tell you how stable these motherboards are.

Asrock Dual-Sata2 for teh win! :rockout:

Seriously, if you want a cheap stable board with upgrading abilities (I'm talking about PCI-e here, not AM2..) and AGP I'd heavily recommend that board. There's tons of tests out there and pretty much everyone (at least of the more serious sites) rate it high because it's just good. Sure, you don't get firewire or gigabit ethernet, but those things are low-cost add-ons. ;)
