P5W-DH running hot???

ok so i just got my new motherboard, just go the system together, why is my motherboard temp saying it is at a fairly constant 51*C, my processor Pentium D 930 is actually only at 44.0*C??? a full 7*C lower than the motherboard???? somethingcant be right, and this is with the case still open and no overclocking done, i literally just got finished installing this...

something just seems off, the above high temps are at load...and also, this is with a slight overclock (FSB 215), notice the FSB or board temp still has not changed...and CPU-Z only registers 1.25 for the Vcore...and nothing inside the case seems very hot at all...

ok i removed the stupid "Digital Home" cover on the northbridge heatsink and the temps immediately dropped to 44*C from 51*C, i guess that guide i read was right...

most of them nb and sb on asus boards with heat pipes gets extremely hot, so i recommend to direct a fan to them or use that active cooler.

I read the same thing... I RMA'd a P5B Deluxe (voltage issues) and now onto a Gigabyte DQ6... did a dry run and the northbridge is much cooler (34c) than the P5B.

Curious - are your voltages set to Auto?

yes my voltages are set to auto, all except the Vdimm which is at 2.1, my gigabyte ran cooler also, no telling if there is an actual performance difference yet since i have only been troubleshooting this machine...
