The Inquirer got their hands on two NVIDIA G80 cards, and decided to put them in SLI. The results were simply astounding. In Far Cry, they got a 75% performance increase compared to a single G80. When tested in 3Dmark03, they got almost 50,000 3Dmarks. The Inquirer also tested FEAR with G80. When the second 8800GTX is added to the system, FEAR gains an impressive 48 frames per second. The Inquirer will continue testing games in G80 SLI.

Wow that does seem pretty damn fast!!! Says it was done using the fastest amd cpu availiable... i suppose they mean the fx-62? Should pair it up with the core2 extreme to see if theres any further improvement in the numbers. sooo fast :P
-edit soon i wouldn't be surprised if 3dmark07 is released that kills these new cards... they have a way of being a killjoy :P

 They sure do! I'm also thinking that TheINQ used an AMD processor/board. Especially considering they've gotten a single 8800GTX to score 11,500 in 3Dmark06 with a Core 2 Extreme.

Wow... sli finally seems worth it. The last few months really seem to have changed a lot in hardware - the two 'old' leaders, Intel and NVidia seem to be becoming the biggest and best again after AMD and ATI have possibly the more impressive performance. No I'm a not a fanboy, check my system. And I admit that AMD/ATI may of course have something special up their sleeve, but TBH core 2 duo is impressive as is the 8800 series. When does the ATI X2x00 series come out?

There is a whole lot of word play in that article.
FEAR is one of our favourite benchmarks Spelling error and no info on Fear BM
In Fear, the dual G80 cards can score up to 48 frames faster than a single card What single card :wtf: are we still talking about G80 or some other card?
In 3Dmark06, the 8800 GTX SLI reaches almost 11,000 Almost meaning what 10,500 :shadedshu:
Oh yes, the single Geforce 8800 GTX scores 9,800 in 3Dmark, on the fastest AMD CPU to date. Between SLI and single card the delta looks about the same. Notice I said delta not the score. It appears that SLI only yields a 1,200 more points in 3dm06. That's if he meant that in his 3dmark statement. If this is consistent in games SLI is pretty much worthless for gamers as you are only getting a few more frames, nothing near the 75% written in the article. Yes, 3d is synthetic however I found that if used properly the score can give you an idea how well you should do in SLI/CF and single card mode. However, lets wait for some real gaming benchmarks to see for ourselves. I gotta feeling it won't be 75% though.

In other news... North Korea is selling small nuclear power stations to help PC enthusiasts overclock their new G80 SLI and X1950XTX Crossfire X3 setups.

No spelling error. That is the English wasy to spell favourite. US is different.
As for the SLI gains, well, 3Dmark06 is run at 1280x1024 with no AA or AF and, in this case, with an AMD CPU. So, as expected, there should be little to no gain. That resolution is nothing more than a CPU test, these days. I want to see the AA and AF scaling at high resolutions like 1920x1200 and 2560x1600.
From what I have seen, in the proper hands with a C2D, 3Dmark06 is more like 11K single and 15K for SLI. Hopefully everything comes together this week and I can see first hand on the weekend.

Getting closer... 75% is not bad. But only bill gates himself could afford the 8800 anyway :|

Many ppl can afford the 8800 GTS for 500$
I dont even know what to tell u abt the 650$ 8800 GTX though..
But hey, look at the brightside - ur money is worth more now!
If once u could have gotten an X800XT for 500$, now u can get an 8800 GTS.

What spelling error?
he was referring to the way "favorite" was spelled. in the article, it was spelled "favourite" which is still a correct way to spell it, just the English version.

i dont think 75% fester is very good for sli my one x1600xt gets 2700+ in 3Dmark06 and in cross fire gets 5535 thats like a 96% increase in proforments and in 3Dmark05 i get 6000 for one x1600xt and over 10000 in cross fire so 75% isnt that good.

Lol, it's my duty as a fully blown Englishman to take the piss out of anything to do with USA. Sorry, but my duty to my country is what I do :) (Even though the Queen is a dumb biatch and I hate her, as do I hate Mr. Blair a.k.a dumb fuck)

Does it matter whether it's spelled color or colour? I really don't care either way, it's the same word :p. What matters is English language vs. American slang. There is no English root to "yo waddup dog, wurd".

Yes there is..."Hello, what are you up to". "I have a (dog)". "I see you have a (werd) on your piece of paper"
