Yesterday, NVIDIA found a flaw in the reference design of the 8800GTX. There was a single resistor on the 8800GTX that was weaker then the rest of the resistors. And so NVIDIA told its OEM partners the exact resistor they had to replace. Almost all the OEM partners have reported bug free cards, and many of the cards in retail already should not have been affected by the issue. So far, Point of View, EVGA and Gainward have confirmed that their cards are bug free. The first batch of fixed cards has been shipped, and European stores will have them tomorrow for public launch.

At least they found it before 1000s of people in the general public.

WTF is a "weak" resistor?

I think it means "burns out at really high voltages that it should be fine at".

um...
chances are the resistor is doing its job.... I'm betting its either overvolting the core, because they are getting good yields and dont want another 7x series RMA round, or its preventing flow somewhere, where it needs more current.
Design flaw.

Noone said "weak resistor". It is probably just one with just a bit too high of a value impeding current under a certain load perhaps. Seeing as its a just a resistor swap, I think it would be in the vreg somewhere..
But I'm not yet an engineer :D

Nope. You're not that good.

Oh, but they did! The Enquirer Reporter refers to "stronger" and "weaker" resistors.

Its spelled Inquirer. Get it right. Enquirer is a lame ass american tabloid. :slap:
I don't even thinkg you got my post.. I referred to it being a VREG problem... and lookie thar, it is...
