first tried dfi ultra infinity but couldn't get it to install windows and kept crashing
then tried Epox 9n3ultra nf4 board with similar results ,tried two types of ram in both boards and on the Epox tried a new psu and a new hardrive no luck. Popped all my stuff back into my old Asrock Dual and was up and running in about 20 minutes. Im wondering if both boards didn't need bios flashes but what a pain in the azz. I just wasted 3 days now trying to put in a better motherboard. I hate companies which sell shit then want you to update them after shipping. Im done upgrading for now sick of rmaing stuff and man I reseached the hell out of this Epox board, they must have terrible quality control. I can tell that it has serious potential, but who they hell has the time to fiddle with it for hours on end. im going to stick with Asus and Abit and Msi from now on.

try using a different cd/dvd rom drive. sounds funny, but most installation problems are caused by it...usually in the initial blue screen.

Many problems due to memory "incompatibility" - even though you tried two different types, there might be a problem there. Latest bios?

I've tried Asus and Abit and now Gigabyte. Abit makes the best BIOS's going for manual tweaking (uGuru). Gigabyte is good, Asus by far the worst. Who cares if the hardware is good when the BIOS won't let you do your thing.

well I have a Asrock/Asus motherboard and it boots great also tried two cdrom drives one external one internal and the only working motherboard is my asrock even after simplifying my set up one hardrive, one stick of ram, one cdrom drive etc.... I tried Patriot ram ddr400 and Crucial ballistix ddr500 with no trouble it was only in windows setup and even sometimes after a complete install I would get instability. My mouse would freeze drivers wouldn't install blue screens etc. The Epox would install windows sometimes ,however, the DFI never even got thru windows.
