Universal Music has struck a deal with Microsoft in which it will get a flat fee for every Zune sold. As the UMG spokesperson has said, this per-unit payment would come in addition to the share of revenue that the music group already plans to receive from per-download sales of songs through Microsoft’s music service. There are reports which have denied the $1/unit flat fee received, which would most likely means that Universal is actually receiving more than that.
