Get Atitool from this very website (http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/) run it, and click on the settings button, you will see a pull down menu at the top of the window that opens- the first part is "overclocking" which tells you what card you have and how many pipes are enabled.

It will also tell you the temperature pf your card (only if you have a temperature chip on the card itself... many 9800's dont have this, mine didnt, but yours might... Look for a section called temperature monitoring in that pull down menu... if it is not there then you can't measure temps via software I am afraid :(

As for the "unlocking of pipelines" - dry downloading a set of softmod drivers (such as DNA's - http://www.dna-drivers.nl/ ) and when you install them, choose the 9800SE - 9800PRO softmod driver...

Be sure to clean out your existing drivers first.... a handy tool for that is Driver Cleaner... http://www.drivercleaner.net/dc.htm

Warning.... not all 9800SE's will unlock.... some do some dont - have a go anyway... I'm not speaking from my own experience, I had a "real" 9800 pro - so didnt need to unlock - just what I have heard annd read.

Good luck, let me know what happens

Hope this helps

Andrew

Simply put more pipes = more bandwidth = better performance :)

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=1840 -for a thread on modding 9800se - pro

You may have trouble since your card is 128 bit not 256... :(

This was what I meant - if you dont see it then your card doesnt have temp monitoring
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/asm016/Tempmonitoring.jpg

The temps you have posted are from the "Hardware Monitoring" tab which is different - mine looks like yours too - I don't understand it much...

What Exactly are you having problems downloading? The DNA driver link is
http://www.dna-drivers.nl/page.php?id=2

and you want the FULL version not the LITE

:)

cheers

Andrew

Thanks mate
I now have 8 pipelines unlocked
Thanks to you mate.
Will it run like a 9800 Pro

cool :D np

What are your current clock speeds ?
the stock 9800 pro is 378 core / 338 mem

It might not run exactly like a 9800 pro, but near enough

test it to check there are no probs with the extra 4 pipes.... if you get artefacts then you might have to run it unlocked. Run your games / the Artefact scanner in atitool....if all is ok after an hour or so, you might be able to overclock it a bit :D

Good mate but i heard that if i Overclock it, It will slow the life time down mate

ASM1
01-31-2005, 07:30 PM
that may be the case, but are you really gonna keep that card for 5 years ? :p

Seriously, if you put some decent cooling on the card then the extra heat generated by the overclock (heat is what kills GCards :)) shouldnt be a problem....

nay, the card wont generate much more heat if more pipes are unlocked, but when you overclock it, it definitely will :)
