View Full Version : Best Liquid Coolant?

OK, over three years runnning the same coolant through a Koolance system, I think it's time to flush and replace... I'm noticing a tad of grunge in the resevoir.

I originally used the OEM Koolance liquid (came in a bag :)). Obviously, it's good stuff for having made it this far (mixed with DISTILLED water).

So - Koolance has some new liquid, blue in color, the old liquid was green and slighly UV reactive.

Any reccomendations? I'd like UV reactive (UV LED's). Certainly would go for Koolance again. Must have all the properties you look for - algaecide, mildicide, non-corrosive, anti-freeze, etc.

Methinks Koolance has some InertX coolant, which is apparently non-conductive... that is quite good, IMO

Anyhow, water will have the best thermal conductivity (well, ok, 3M makes some stuff that has better IIRC, but it costs like 1000 USD to fill your system). Personally, I would run distilled water if the loop is all-copper, or distilled water + zerex.

if you can afford it, liquid nitrogen

Yea, baby! :)

I got the Koolance liquid... they specialize in the stuff. In a FAQ, they explain that the coolant has anti-corrosive and anti-mirobial additives... if it aint UV reactive, Oh well, so long as it last another 3 years.

I bought some uv reactive solution and just added that, my capacity is about 500ml and the additive was 10ml, only cost a few quid and works a treat, I just use distilled water and all my blocks are copper!
