Ok, I was removing a AC Silencer off my Connect 3D x800GTO and accidently broke off a capacitor off my card. It doesn't look like a tough of a soldering job, but I'm a rookie when it comes to soldering . Will pay shipping both ways, and some extra $$ for the services. Thanks.
Pictures of the job attached.

could you take a picture of the underside of the board and draw a circle around that area, may help me or someone else asses how to solder it.

Ok, it's hard to tell what the bottom looks like, but here are 2 pics of what it would look like.
Oh, thanks PT, somehow I missed their sticky. Just PMed POGE since he's in the states.

If you had a little bit of solder wire and some flux (965 flux, not water soluable) or solder paste, you just dab a little of the flux on the two leads, set the cap down and gently touch the wire to the leads and dab the soldering gun on it. In no time, bam its good to go. But, Poge may know more (I used to solder inspect, solder and smt inspect at my old job).

Poge isn't going to respond anytime soon, I suggest you PM Infrared. Shipping to the UK should run you $13 assuming you use USPS. And remember to tip the IT guy! He's quite good at what he does :).

smt can be tough for anyone who hasnt done much solder work...something like this i would leave to poge or infrared......good luck man:rockout:

Yeah, If I had the tools, as I told wowza, I would do it. Unfortunately I do not and I dont think I can get any of my soldering friends at my old job to do it.

Yes, surface mount - and doesn't look like a capacitor. One of the pins is broken clear off, so you'll probably need a new part (whatever it is).

What does the top of that component look like - any numbers or marks?
Ironically, I have the exact same card at home and can take a peek after work.
EDIT: It in fact does look like a solid capacitor... here's a picture of the same card (it's the capacitor under the fan wires at the top):

Yea, sorry about the crummy pic. I took a pic of the bottom of the cap. The top part looks like

It doesnt look like that easy of a job to me... would probably be best to replace the capacitor with a new one. The connection is broke off one sid of the older capacitor. I'm almost positive I could handle it, but no guarantees. No charge.

Wow, that's an offer you can't refuse... complete with experience.

sorry i thought it was Surface Mount Technology....what is the D then?
and has anyone figured out exactly what that part does?? i know what caps do, but how does that one effect that card...can it still be used like that?

it is surface mount technology and it is smt. SMD is surface mount devices. HAHA. hope that clears it up for ya.
