Just got Ghost recon Advanced Warfighter as an early Christmas present and I can't get the textures set to high. It only gives me medium and low for options. Everything else will go high, but not that. Any help would be appriciated.

Physics card???? I know that game supports one. However I do not own that game.

i would think you would need at least a x1900 or 7800gt or higher to run highest textures

To run smoothly maybe, to to select at ALL? Yeah this is PC. It's fully patched too. It screams with everything on high except textures.

The physics card wouldn't really have much to do with the textures.

Textures are the GPU rendering. Physics would be like a CPU render. I guess...

I found the reason. It REQUIRES 512MB of video memory for high texture settings.

thats not to suprising at all.......x1900xtx:D ?

Not like it matters much, it already looks stunning on medium. I just wanted to see if I could run it smoothly. It runs at 80+FPS at 1024x768 8X AF 4X AA, the game is HARD though.

i play it on 360 at 1080i and its beautiful:D

What does it play like @ 1280x1024?

Low settings? Or a mixture of low/med?

Um lemme see. I currently have it maxed out.

It still runs solid 30+FPS at 1280x1024 high everything, 8XAA and AA. Looks quite good too.

I ran GRAW on my X800 and wouldn't give the options to max it out. That was running 1280x1024. Then on my X1900 and it would allow for highest settings at 1680x1050. The AGP system had a gig of ram, while my other has 2GB.

According to the review at gamespot, it requires 512MB of video ram. Here is what they posted

"To give you an idea of the kind of stress GRAW can put on your computer, the machine we tested on, a Pentium 4 2.53GHz with 1GB of RAM and a 256MB GeForce 6800 Ultra, is considered mid-spec by the game. You're not allowed to even try to set the texture detail to high with a 256MB card--that's reserved for the pricy 512MB behemoths"

The game is insanely fun, yet will make you tear your hair out. It should run quite nicely on your compy.

Cheers bud, only thing about my comp @ the mo is the mobo & ram, the mobo because the chipset only allows 4x pci-e :( wont make that much of a difference but its a difference and the ram, well its getting abit out dated! Im waiting for some corsair x2 1gb pc2 6400 xms2 cl4 pro series stuff to come into stock and im getting a gigabyte GA 965P DS3, so just playing the waiting game @ the mo, then I will flog this PD and get a e6300

It requires 512Mb for high textures doesn't it? And an X1950XT only has 256Mb...

1.Go to the data folder (where u installed the game)
2.Then the settings folder
3.Right click on renderer_settings the click edit (its an xml document)
4.<variable name="texture_quality_backdrop" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_buildings" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_buildings_low" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_characters" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_default" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_effects" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_ground" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_lightmaps" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_no_lod" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_plants" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_player_vehicles" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_props" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_props_bump" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_props_high" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_silhouettes" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_sky" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_vehicles" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_weapons" value="high"/>
<variable name="texture_quality_weapons_third" value="high"
5. Change on the medium values with high (i already did that so thats why they are already set to high)
