I recently upgraded my old PC to an Abit 9550 128 card and connect it to a LCD monitor (Dell) via DVI connector. However, the performance is soo slow compare to my old Diamond Viper II card. For example, when i play a mpeg, the picture is choppy or when i'm surfing the web it's slow. The performance wasn't this slow when I had the Viper II card.

I have a old AMD TBIRD 750mHz PC w/ KT7-Raid Motherboard and I know it's ancient but for some reason my old Diamond Viper II (using a analog connector) was much faster in performance than the Abit 9550 (setting at 4x AGP).

Does anyone know the problem? I don't want to get a whole new PC/system but maybe thinking about upgrading the CPU to a 1.2G...Do you think this would increase the performance somewhat or do I need a new P4 or Athlon XP that has higher Front Side Bus speed?

Did you install the drivers for it that came with it on a cd?

yes and then upgraded the driver to ATI Catalyst version 5.2 (latest version). I wonder if the card might be too fast for my old PC or do I need to OC the card using Softmodd and ATITool or flash the bios? Or upgrading my system to a faster CPU (like 1.2G)?

That card isnt too old for your system, but you might start saving money for a new motherboard and cpu and ram. Uninstall your current drivers from add/remove programs in the start menu and when that is, done restart your computer. Download this- http://www.drivercleaner.net/dc.htm and with it select ATI drivers and run it. Then restart your computer again. Then download the latest drivers again and install them.
You have to do this because sometimes old driver component get left behind and corrupt new ones.
